Looking to cruise Lake Anna and Deep Creek Lake this season.  Does anyone have information of these waters?  Looking for charts on line, but not having much luck.  Past experience on these lakes would be appreciated.

"Sail on, y'all!"

I sailed on Deep Creek years ago.  The Flying Scot company is located near there and, as one would expect, there is quite a large and active racing fleet of Scots at the Deep Creek Yacht Club.  I can't answer questions about charts, but the lake is long and relatively narrow.  As I recall, there is a relatively low bridge across the lake at the mid point that might be too low for sailboats (not certain of this).  There is unlimited horsepower on the lake with some horrendously oversized powerboats creating wakes that seems to bounce off one short to the other creating a lot of chop.  Add to this the nearly unlimited condominium development and the result is far too many boats for the available water. The overcrowding is, of course, at its worst on the weekends.  It may be more tolerable during the week.  But in my humble opinion, the lake has been overtaken by powerboats at the expense of sailors. Nonetheless, it is a beautiful location with a rich sailing history. I bet the folks at the Yacht Club would be willing to offer advice and assistance.
