I am looking to install a factory made bimini from West Marine, probably a Taylor Made product.  I measured 36" from the gunwhales to a comfortable height below the boom, about amidships on the cockpit.  Was wondering what the appropriate height is to clear the boom.

Thanks.

Hang the boom from the sail and measure...give yourself about 4 inches? clear under the boom. Mind the vang.

skip.

I just installed the Ameriseam Bimini on BEL. Was impressed with the quality of the unit, the price and service.

Hey Paul, could you post a photo of your new bimini? There's not one on the web site. Also, are you the member of WCTSS that recently bought your 16 from TN?

If you have a bimini that fits well, please post the measurement used here.  We can work from those to avoid any errors.

I'm up in Massachusetts for a week, will post pics when I get back to FL. Yes to both questions.

I apologize for not posting some pics of my new Ameriseam bimini. Just got in from "up north" and still unpacking. Because I have genoa tracks mounted on the coamings of my 16, I installed the 24" tracks for the bimini on the deck between the coaming and the rub rail. Works like a charm and is big enough (6' for/aft) to cover most of the cockpit. The folks at Ameriseam fabricate lots of canvas for our boats and have many of the pattens computerized.

jamato,
Hope you will post those pictures.  Would like to see them before I order.

jamato323

Thanks for your patience.
Waiting for Isaac here so no time to haul Bel out of her cave for a raised sail/bimini photo op.
These pics show quality of construction. I owned a SunCat that had an identical "factory supplied"
bimini. Wouldn't be surprised if it was made by Ameriseam.

I have had the bimini deployed while boom is carrying raised sail, it clears by about 3".
Happy with the purchase.

Chas:
Finally got "Bel" out of her hurricane cave and could get a photo of her new bimini with boom clearance. Apologies in advance for the loose outhaul.

From that angle it looks like a tight squeeze to get up on deck if you have to.  Is it?
