Being very new to sailing, I am actually paying attention to the Olympic Sailing competition.  I found the US team's homepage (http://olympics.ussailing.org/) but other than the Lazer and Finn, didn't even recognize any of the classes, boats, attributes, etc.  I am assuming some (Finn Class?) will be for singlehanded racing while some of the others will have 2 or more but not sure about  that either.

Anyone more knowledgable wanna chip in?  What country is the favorite in the sailing events?

You can read more about the classes at:

http://suite101.com/article/olympic-sailing-basics-a7927

or at:

http://www.sailing.org/classes/index.php

and then in the Olympic Equipment select the class you want to see more about.

Looks like Paralympics are sailing Skud 18, 2.4 meter and Sonars.

This will be the last year for the Star.  My family has a lot of history with this class.  One of my father's early boats was Star #1005.  Another boat I liked that isn't current is the Dragon.  Oh Well.

Cheers.
