Straightening Sun Cat ladder

I am finding it more difficult each passing year to climb the boarding ladder due to its reverse angle and am thinking of blocking it out with teak blocks so that it hangs perpendicular to the water. Has anyone tried this?

The trick, I suspect, will be to get at the nuts on the inside of the transom and am guessing that I will need to remove the tiller tunnel to get at them.

Cheers
Tim
