As a newbie, I've looked around for any Rules & Regulations, but haven't found any.  Are there any OFFICIAL rules, or is it common sense and common courtesy?  Also, how does one accumulate "Karma", both good and bad?

Just curious.

We have generally got the common sense and courtesy thing going here.  Besides most topics being about sailing, there are two hard and fast rules here.  They are:

1. NO PROFANITY, and NO FLAMING Period. (One rule because they kind of go hand in hand)  This is a family site and all ages and genders may be reading and lurking.

2. NO POLITICS.  Sailors always are rather opinionated and self confident in their judgements about their sailing abilities.  This generally carries over to other areas in their lives, and political persuasions are one of those areas.   In the past, political topics have caused ill will among some members.  It has even caused some of our good resources to stop contributing to the board.

The administrators watch carefully the posts to ensure these two rules are followed.

About the Karma +/-  .  You can give good Karma (+) by clicking on the Karma button of the poster, likewise bad(-) karma.  Use it judiciously.

Hope this answers you question.
