My family is headed to Carolina Beach this summer, staying at a friend's house. I'm wondering if I should take my 16. Does anyone have experience sailing there? I don't have a chart of the area, so any advice is welcome.

You have two choices from there, Ocean or Cape Fear River. The river should have some good sailing, I'm planning on going sometime the end of June. I'm thinking maybe Carolina Beach up to the Wilmington Docks and back. You can see charts listing marinas and ramps at

Thanks for the replies. I'll check out the links. I'm definitely talking about the Cape Fear, not the Atlantic - I'm still a novice sailor.

JazzCat, if you make that trip, please post a report and/or send me a PM. We don't go until late July.
