I am new to the list and looking for a CP16. I ran across this one in the classifieds and was wondering if anyone thinks it is a project worth tackling.  I have done quite a bit of boat work but mainly building stich and glue.  I would love to try this one but would like some advice.

Basically it looks as though the keel got wet and the iron inside rusted and delaminated the glass from the ballast.  One whole side of the keel has the glass completely missing the other side is delaminated and cracked.  Looks like it needs new ballast and glass.

I have pictures that I could email if someone wanted to look at them but I don't know how to post them here

There is cement in the keel, not Iron.  I would walk away unless it was free and came with alot of acessories.  Definetly dont pay any money for this, in my oppinion.

I appreciate the advice.  I know that this is an early boat after talking with Gerry at Hutchins.  He told me that they did put pig iron in some of the early boats.  Sure does not seem like a good idea.  Wet iron and a sealed environment mean only one thing, oxidation leading to delamination.

Thanks for the help!
