Les Cheneaux Islands

Vacation is coming up soon and I am doing a little planning.

I hope to drive to upper Michigan, and head east just north of the Mackinaw bridge to Hessel and Cedarville along the Les Cheneaux Islands on the NW corner of Lake Huron.  I have heard that the sailing is great as is the wind, and yet the waters of the islands are somewhat protected from the big lake by all of the islands.

If the wife gives the ok, we will camp right on the bay and sail on the days when the wind is right and do some other things (for her) when the water is flat.  This would be my first trip taking the boat somewhere since we just got it this spring.

If anyone has sailed that area, please chip in and give some pointers.
I already have the charts, a radio, and a compass, just no gps.

Thanks.........                      Doug   CP-16  (Still trying to name her)
