Length/diameter of line for outhaul and downhaul?

Sailing today, took a look at the outhaul and downhaul on the main. appears to be 1/8" braid. If you had 4 ft.( total)  of 1/8" or 7/64" braid cord you would have more than enough to handle both jobs.
I am using 3/16 on a jib downhaul, I think 1/8 would work there also.

1/8?  Kind of thin.  1/4 is the factory size...would recommend for easier handling.
