have my flying scot, easy to sail, fast, stable.but, now time for the but.i miss my suncat.living in florida now.figure on sailing a lot.want to sail around the keys, anchor snorkle.at 68 i love the mast tender.plus never knew how bald i was till sailing without a bimini reminded me.the suncat is maybe the perfect boat for solo sailing around the keys.beachable, set for relaxed sailing.sleeps one fine.space for plenty of stuff.don't sell your suncat without careful thought.well i have to get bck to my search for my new suncat.

Glenn Basore

Interesting!

One of the boats Ive all ways consider was a Flying Scott..............

I have a 20006 Eclipse which I posted on this site "for Sale" an have been looking to down size.

I did look a sun cat before buying my Eclipse, very nice boat.

The Scott would be too much for me as I'm 63.........doesn't seem fair that youth is wasted on the young!

Good luck in your search.

Glenn B,

flying scot is an easy boat to sail.i was 66 when i bought it.i sail solo most times.very stable, jib is placed just right.gets very gustyu on my lake, scot will plane.raced it every sunday.will sail on a whisper of wind.my location has changed living in daytona beach fl now.being single, retired free to roam.might as well stay in fl.a suncat would be perfect down here.i could roam the entire coast of fl.in a suncat.which was my plan when i purchased my suncat.this time of yr is not thr right time to head to NH to bring my scot to fl.i love hiding my bald head under the bimini.having a scot and a suncat would be ideal.take my advise.sail a scot you will love it.solo or with a crew.passing other sailboat does have its merits.i could sell my 3 motorcycles,my scot and buy a suncat.put my furniture in storage.spend a year exploring fl.nice being retired.why does a 68 yr old guy need 3 motorcycles.any one want a 100"evo chopper, custom paint, rigid frame.lol.

Patch, good luck in your search for a new Suncat.  There are several for sale on the web and here in our classifed section.

They do sound like very nice trailorsailors and a good fit for you.  I would love to sail one sometime.

3 bikes huh?  I had that illness at one time as well.  I do miss the FJR1300 and the multi-state trips I used to go on.

cant beat a trailer sailor. had the motorcycle sickness once myself (6 at one time) but i grew out of it (pregnant women dont want to go on long motorcycle trips and daughters need dads). one thing with sailing ---you dont have to worry about a 2 ton truck running a stop sign and knocking you down ( survived that one). good luck on you boat quest

I sailed a Scot once with a friend...didn't like it. Sure it was a great, fast and stable boat but with a very uncomfortable seating position. Maybe they made some changes over the years. I was on an old one.
3 motorcycles? Any BMW R-bikes? Sure, I'll take that  one off your hands. What are friends for?

Patch, please quit indicating that 68 might be old.:)  At 65 I'm trying to convince myself it ain't so.

I like the plan, in fact thought about it myself, cruising the keys and south Fl that is. I think the 16 or a Suncat would work great for that.  If I could get the Admiral to warm up to that plan, I'd be on my way in my 23.

On the subject of bikes, been thinking about one.  Last year I made about 50 round trips from my house, up the scenic, low traffic, Natchez Trace Parkway to Bay Springs Lake, all of them in my truck which gets about 23 MPG on that course.   The round trip is 70 miles.  Got to thinking I could do that on a bike, save money, and enjoy the trip more.  I'm about 160 lbs. don't want anything big, been thinking about that little Yahama V Star 250, supposed to get about 80 mpg and looks like a baby version of a V twin cruiser.  Also a couple of nice used Shadow 750's and one or two nice HD 883's for sale in my area, but they may defeat the purpose of light, simple and fuel efficient.  I haven't ridden since I was in my teens, but the urge is still there.:)

You old guys need to be careful about primary stability. I have a solution for that and it's for sale. :)

"Old guys?" Like we say here in NJ- "You talkin' to me?" I can't tell what kind of bike that is.

" I sailed a Scot once with a friend...didn't like it. Sure it was a great, fast and stable boat but with a very uncomfortable seating position. " Exactly how I felt about our Star Boat. Nice boat. What good is it for other then racing? Uncomfortable as heck. Hard to sleep overnight on it. Too deep a fixed keel to reach the beach, and where is the port-a-potty?
