Thanks for maintaining this forum-lots of good info.  I have 1984 CP19 at a mooring in Noank CT. Just survived IRENE out on mooring.[Would like to show picture of my bridle system for mooring. It is made of 7\16 dock line{double braided}. Was constructed because existing mooring pennant line is 1" and too thick to adequately secure to bow cleat. Winds were reported over 60 mph from late saturday night through the day and into the early evening sunday-actually a tropical storm by the time it hit . Storm surge estimated at 4-6 ft.  I removed the sails, boom, motor, gas tank, gas tank cover and rudder. Covered the cabin with 4X6 ft. blue tarp and cords/bungees.
Called on tuesday they said one of the sailboats had become loose during storm due to chafe of mooring-mine was still there. On following saturday I went out to see-boat was AOK except tarp had come loose but not completely. Mooring bridle chafe guard{3\4 ID heater hose burned through but rope still ok.  Has a 1\2 inch dock line as backup tied to mast and attached to secondary mooring pennant. Picture shows how much friction occurs while boat bobbing up and down out there!

Welcome to the forum !

We're practically neighbors ! I'm down in Westbrook, so excited to have a fellow CP19er nearby! I did my ASA classes a while back down at Sail The Sounds out of Mystic Shipyard. This has been my first season with my 19, it's in a slip at Pilots Point North,I have enjoyed the boat lots!

Good news on making it through the storm ok, the power lines and fallen trees were the worst here in CT.

ENJOY the site here, lots of good information and fun discussions.

Welcome, ellas!

Forum rules require two things from new members:

1.) $5,000 "administration" fee paid to Bob23 in small, unmarked bills. He may give you a discount since you did just live through a hurricane--will have to ask him yourself.
2.) Picture of your boat.

Of course I'm kidding, but we sure would love to see pictures of it!

So have long have you had it?  Just find the site or been lurking?

Kidding? Yes, the new fee is $6000.00. Business in construction is slow and I need a new chartplotter for "Koinonia"! In looking through my records, Salty, I see you have not paid your fee. My uncle Guido will be stopping in for a visit!
Welcome! Congrats on surviving Irene. Down here at the Jersey Shore, she was nothing more than a brief and weak Nor'easter. Further up in Northern NJ is a different story. Much flooding and damage. I'm inpressed by the deck cleat strength on the Compacs. I had my 23 out in 60mph winds for 2 days a few years ago...she made it through just fine.
Salty has just offered to pay your fee and his...what a guy, huh. Mike, I'll take 9k for both fees if paid in very small unmarked bills or the equivilent in Pabst Blue Ribbon beer...in bottles, if you please!

Bob,

You forgot to mention the 10% "Global Moderators Wayward Sailors Retirement Fund" fee.

Darn, I should have known this would hyjack the thread!  Sorry, ellas..that happens from time to time.

Let Guido, if that is his real name, know I'll be expecting him this evening. He'll be easy to find around here in the sticks- what with the gold chains, slicked back hair, cheap suite, Atlantic City accent, diamond earrings (real, not the cubic zirconia stuff!),  and strong smell of bad cologne...should be easy for the police to identify the bodys' origin. "yep, he's from Joisey", they will say. "Ain't from around here".  "good job for taking care of the problem" they will tell me.  "Ever think about police work"? they will ask.  Probably has a MOM tatoo with a heart around it too (cries at the mention of his mudda) and a really bad mole on his left cheek. Two things you don't want to do..insult his mother and state at the cheek mole!!!

As for the fee, you gotta read the bylaws again. Fees are waved for moderators, and in fact, shared among us.  I'll be expecting a nice check--no wait...cash, from you next week, with interest paid at the rate of 10% per month, and an apology note for holding out on us.

Don't forget about Tim, Newt and Captk!!!

Salty,

Lurking is a good term. Can you direct me to specific instructions on getting pics uploaded. Would like to have profile pic and also link to pics of bridle system before/after IRENE. I  think it would help new sailors to see how much friction is generated at a mooring by seeing my chafe guard since IRENE passed.
Thanks

Tim Gardner

Ellas,
