Happy Labor Day from Koinonia and Bob23:

Hope you ain't laboring too much.
Today was a pre-dawn sail for me... perfect conditions...no other boats, nice SW wind and a beautiful sunrise. A dawn sail is something I've been wanting to do for a long time!
Cheers!

Bob,

Thanks for flying The Flag for Labor Day. People have forgotten just how much organized labor had done for the rest of us. Although not a union member anymore (it's been over 45 years!... a long story!) I never forget how unions have benefitted me. Unfortunately, there is a lot of abuse these days and not just hedge fund managers get greedy!

We live in a wonderful country where most everyone can achieve their dream... if they really want to. Of course, there are those through no fault of their own are limited in their "pursuit of happiness".

I am just formulating plans for next Saturday. Weather looks good. If I go to Barnegat, It may be the last time this season as the rest of the calendar is pretty full with daughter number two expecting in November and other obligations. Maybe I'll squeeze Nockamixon in sometime in October, but after the second week of October I'm probably done.

Bob,
I may have to give you my 1st tsk tsk. For leaving you winch handle in the winch unattended. You should always use two hands. Lose one overboard and you will never make that mistake again!

Ill let it slide this time.

Marty:
Let me know if you come to Barnegat next weekend...I'll sail up and we can do a mini rendezvous!
My father in law was a union member for many years. He enjoyed a long retirement from 1982 until his death last October.
Billy:
Thanks for the concern but it locks in and...floats! And I have a spare  in the locker. But I should have a holder for it...just never got around to it. Thanks for letting it slide. After I've completed a tack, I wind the windward jib sheet around the winch, set the handle in that winch, and run the leeward sheet across the cockpit to the windward cleat. Then it's a simple matter of uncleating that sheet, pay it out while hauling in the other sheet. The handle is already in place to tighten up the sheet. But I will take your advice...I may be a curmudgeony old fart but never too old to learn!

Bob,

I'm looking forward to meeting up with you Saturday. After I've lined up a crew, I'll contact you via email and we can work out details. Maybe some more Com-Pac skippers will show up! Hopefully, the bay will be a bit quieter than it was Saturday. This will be my first attempt at navigation!
