Bomar hatch gasket replacement info

I just replaced the gasket on my Bomar low profile foredeck hatch (1988 CP 19/3) and thought I would share what I learned. My original gasket was stiff, cracked, and no longer made a tight seal. This is the gasket that seals the hatch cover as it opens and closes, NOT the seal between the hatch body and the boat fiberglass which is usually done with 3M 5200 or 4200 or with the new-fangled Bomar adhesive foam tape.

Defender has the gasket material (Bomar P2000-25, Defender's stock number 901500, $5.99 per foot). I ordered six feet to do my hatch. It arrived with no apparent way of attaching it (no sticky side or adhesive included) so I called Bomar/Pompanette tech support. The very nice Claire sent me the replacement instructions below which seemed to work very well. Note their (interesting) recommendation of a dab of Superglue at the four corners rather than using adhesive all the way around the gasket. Non-intuitive but successful.
