Lazarette Organizer

We checked off a few items on the to-do list this weekend including cleaning out and organizing the port lazarette.  We use this locker to store the lunch anchor, lines, fenders, and anything else that gets thrown in there.  Here is a picture of the locker before we started cleaning it out.  It was always frustrating to find and untangle a line or worse yet the lunch anchor from that rat's nest.

We made a simple line organizer and a neat little anchor mount to tidy things up.  This looks a little better.  Well it looks better except for the 3M5200 smeared all over the cover.  It slipped overnight when my clamp broke.  I'll bet that will be fun to clean off.

Also put new trailer bunks on and I plan on replacing the 3 rollers with a 2 x 12 board.  I just have to figure out how to mount it.

Now if we could only go sailing.

Once again, Mike you continue to dazzle us with your creative solutions and handi-work. I'll even give you some slack for the 5200 slip. We'll just call it a "strengthening filler" and call a day.  That anchor looks a cinch to deploy and no more tangling around the thing.

Now onto the important stuff..go sailing already it's almost June! (I know the weather has been crap!!!).   We've been able to get out a few times and really enjoyed it, sporting a nice spring sunburn to prove it!

Mike - re. your 5200 cleanup problem, Debond Marine Formula is a miracle substance. I just went through three 12 oz. aerosol cans in the course of a complete rebedding project and it reduces 5200 to a whimpering shadow of its original self. I have been buying direct from the manufacturer, www.marineformula.com, because their shipping/handling charges are actually more reasonable than most of the discount online resellers. The nicest thing about it is that it releases the grip of the 5200 without actually dissolving it, so you don't end up with an even bigger mess.

Thanks for the advice Wes. I'll give it a try.

I got the idea for the project from a line organizer article in Good Old Boat magazine.  The guy's simple design seemed like such a good idea.  He should have warned me that my "el cheapo" plastic clamp was going to break though.  At least my design and installation of the anchor mount went smoothly.
