THIS WILL BE EDITED as more details are made available.

FINAL EDIT:  AUGUST 2, 2011

DATES: August 4-9, 2011
Activities Aug 5-6.

LOCATION:  Carlyle Lake, IL. South of I-70, about 50 miles east of St. Louis
http://www.carlylelake.com/

LAUNCH RAMP:
Due to high water, the high water ramp next to the West Access Marina (far Southwest side of lake) needs to be used.  There is a small, $3 or $4 fee to launch and retrieve here.

AGENDA:

Thursday:  Open, nothing scheduled. Sail as much as you see fit.
Friday Daytime:  Sailing, sailing and more sailing.  Raft up near dam, south side of lake appx 1:00pm.
Friday evening:  Bretz Wildlife Winery.  Happy hour and dinner.
Saturday Datime:  More sailing and another raftup at 1:00.  Expect a water cannon fight :)
Saturday Evening:  BBQ at the West Access Marina shelterhouse.  If you did not reserve with kicknbug, there won't be enough food for you (sorry, but there was plenty of time to reserve)
Sunday: Open date.  Sailing all day. No specific events planned.

BRING YOUR LUNCH WITH YOU ON THE BOAT!!!

FEES:  No event fees. Your costs are what you spend on lodging, gas, food, etc.  This is a loosely organized event by owners, for owners.
The BBQ will cost a few bucks per person.  If you did not RSVP to kicknbug for the BBQ, do not expect to eat.  Note due to high water, we need to use the pay ramp at West Access Marina. I believe it's $3 or $4 to launch, the same to retrieve (bring singles and read the signage)

T-SHIRTS and GOODIES:
-Four official Com-pac hats will be given away as prizes (thank you Gerry).
-Gift bags will be given away as door prizes to all (yes, there may be stuff *INSIDE* the bags :)
-An unknown surprise from the Greene's for each boat.

Message from Doug142: "I have posted the design for the 2011CLR on www.zazzle.com
Search Doug142Water
Then SORT for new products
I did t-shirts, mugs, bags, and new this year, Keychains.
There are many, many different styles to choose from.  Colors too.  Dark color shirts won't be to good with this design."

Thanks for doing this, Doug.

RADIO COMMUNICATION:  VHF Channel: 3.  FRS Channel 3  GMRS Channel 3

OTHER:  Other sailors are invited.    This is a Com-pac owners event but we'll welcome other boats, so feel free to invite friends/family with other sailboats.  The county is not "dry"...beer, wine, booze are available in town in needed.  A restaurant is next door to the Microtel and others are in town closeby. If using the ramp next to the West Access marina, BE SURE TO PAY THE SMALL HONOR SYSTEM FEE.  There is an outdoor box located at the front of the parking lot to insert an envelop with cash.  I don't know what fines or penalties exist for not paying this fee. Plan on $4 per launch or retrieval.

Salty -  Thanks for putting all this info together in one place.  Hopefully we'll get even more boats and sailors involved this year.  It would be great if some some 23's to 27's and a few cats would join in.

Thanks again,

Mike

com-pac sailors, mike (aka salty19) pretty much has the event down pat. i figure on thursday night (4th) will be an informal get together (beer disposal) at either the microtel or over at the marina (play it by ear) I'll bring some bud light. friday some sailing and friday night the meet and greet (dinner) at bretzs winery and probably more marina socializing. saturday will be sailing and a raft up for lunch, drinks and swimming (and buffet music im sure). sat night bbq (location tbd) sunday sailing, raft up with the drinking eating and lying. after that we pretty much play it by ear. anyway the details will be ironed out (it worked last year). speaking for all those in attendance last year, you will have a great time and be in the company of wonderful people (what more could anyone want) . im sure those at the marina might do some night cruising---hope you can find your way back.

I'm just the messenger, thanks to kicknbug for organizing the event.

As mentioned, the final schedule will be edited in the first post once everything is set in stone.
Anyone considering going should absolutely attend if your schedule allows. You will not regret it!

Myself and the new owner of the "Joyce Marie" plan to attend the festivities at Carlyle Lake this year.  She was bought by another Bob from Indianapolis, and is going to be going to her new home on April 16th.  I view that with mixed emotions thrilled to see her go to a good new owner, sorry to see her go, she is truly a wonderful little vessel.  But looking forward to seeing you all there.

For those coming to the rendezvous, please reply here with your confirmation.  I'm sure kicknbug needs a head count for reserving a room at the winery on Friday night--sooner than later would be good.

Two of us coming here...Salty (Mike) and Admiral Becky. CP19XL..the gayest boat of them all.

Brenda and I will be there in a blue or brown or burgundy or .....  hulled CP19/II.  B will have the Brandy Slushies again, but I will be leaving the infamous "Pink Thing" home this year.  We plan on coming in Thursday Aug 4th and staying in the marina through Saturday Aug 13th.  We are really slow sailors, so we need the extra days to get all the way around the lake.

Add 2 more to the count.  Although I rarely drink alcoholic beverages, a good red wine is hard to pass up.
We already have a slip and motel room reserved.   I hope someone knows the correct ceremony for the renaming of a boat,  as it looks like this will be our maiden voyage in our new-2-us Compac 19/II.
