just to say hello as i have recently become an owner of a 1991 compac 16 here in the UK which needs a little love but soon to be sailing, great forum thank you.

Welcome curlylarge,

Part of my enjoyment with having a boat is to work on her from time to time when I'm not sailing.

This forum is great place for all your sailing questions / repair projects.

Happy sailing,

Glenn B.

Welcome aboard curlylarge.  It's always a thrill for us to hear of one of our little compacs being enjoyed by someone somewhere across the big pond.

Hello from the US...

Look back through the site for idea on modifications and restoration ideas. The most beneficial ones seem to be comfort/convenience oriented changes such as aft lef halyards, roller furler and cockpit cushions.  Performance mods include a foiled (NACA0012 or 0014 style) rudders and new sails with loose footed mains and 155% genoa's.   Then the fit and finish changes such as hull polishing, teak restoration and other restoration items depending on how old the hardware is and what condition it's in.

The Compac is an easy boat to sail, trailer, launch and own.  Have fun with it!

How did your Compac get to the UK?  Was she sailed there on her own bottom, or was she shipped?  How does she stack up against the CE requirements?
