Okay, I finally got approved.  It took a little while.

I started in the summer, assuming it would take a few minutes.  At that time I was considering buying a CP-16, and thought this group would be helpful in my decision.  I did end up getting a CP-16, and although I didn't have a voice in the group, I still was able to read your posts.  The site and the posts have been very helpful.

FYI, to those that still may be waiting.  I sent a reply (after about a month of waiting) to the initial auto-email confirmation (It said something to the effect that I would have to wait until approved.)  Although I didn't receive any response to my reply for another few months, apparently it did not get lost; it just was in irons for a while.  So replying to that email does work, just pack a lunch and settle in.

Oh, I also tried to send an S.O.S. to this group via the yahoo group, and I do appreciate any efforts that were made.

Well I'm excited to compare notes with fellow CP owners.  I have a lot plans for my new little boat.

Bob, you will never be sorry you purchased a CP 16 , a pocket cruiser of small size with big a big heart, as an old sailor who wishes he had found the site a long time ago I welcome you, of course its hard to find if you didn't have a computer. 'lollygagger' is a '76.  I suspect she is in pretty good shape, but I'm a novice.

Actually, the only thing preventing me from sailing her today is a small 4" gouge, a few feet behind the bow on the port side, just above the waterline.  I inflicted that wound a couple of weeks ago while trying to navigate from the dock to the trailer.

From discussions with other boaters, I must be a fast learner.  Apparently they gained most of their critical skills, from first hand experience, by finding out what not to do.  It was only my second time to get her wet, and I already get to learn how to repair gelcoat.

The timing was good.  Currently, I'm more interested in tinkering with her in the garage.  Whether that is weather related, or just the nudge I needed to start 'pimping up' my ride, time will only tell.  The mishap has given me a great excuse to start planning her makeover.

I must of been slacking off a little that day.  I didn't do enough damage to require an education in fiberglass repair.  Time will surely provide that opportunity.

Bob, I enjoy adding, remodeling, fixing, and taking care of my boat about as much as sailing her....not quite. Living in a cold climate makes for a  long off season (winter) and having a boat to sail in the garage is better than snow blowing........ I now could sail her around the world with the way she's outfitted, as we have never been out of sight of land , but still a dream as I sit in my garage on the trailer in January......April comes and I am just happy to be on the water on my inland lake............fair winds and only hope you get as much enjoyment out of your boat as I have........Phil ( there is nothing like messing around in small boats)

Welcome to the forum.  Fix up that 16 you'll be glad you did!

Some really nice improvements to make it a better sailor:  New sails if they are soft with 155% genoa.  Homemade PVC rolling furler system. IDA rudder. Genoa tracks and camcleats for the tracks. Of course there are many others to fine tune things-trim the mast slightly forward, keep the bottom smooth, keep shrouds at proper tension. There are many other things of course you do for convenience,safety and performance. It takes awhile to be good so just focus on the basics for now to keep that gelcoat from getting too scratched up

I'd like to hear more about that 'homemade PVC rolling furler system' and I'm curious if it makes rigging the forestay anymore difficult when trailering.

This morning I officially decided to 'pimp-out' lollygagger.  This morning I made an official list of to dos, and researching foresail furlers was on the list.  I would love to have a furler.

I recently put a few bucks (a few more bucks than expected) into trailer modifications, to allow more garage space, and to keep my p/u tires out of the water when on the ramp; so 'homemade' is my new favorite word.

What "tank" do you sail on near OK City.  I lived in Tulsa for 8 years, lots of water around there.  Hard to believe in this day and age, but $12 oil chased me out of town, mid eighties.
