New photo Gallery software?

It has seemed like folks sometimes have problems understanding the current Gallery software, so I was looking at another application which does the same thing, and in some ways it may be better, it seems to me.

This new application was not available at the time I set the site up, so if people like it better, I'd rather switch over now, before more content gets added to the current Gallery.

I'd like ya'll to take a look at the two, vote in this poll here, and tell me what your impressions of the programs/interfaces are if you feel like it.

In particular, I'm interested in hearing from those of you who have used the current Gallery software.

Thanks. Your input will help make the site better, for you. :)

First of all... THANKS for your time and efforts. :)
I did the test and The new interface seems cleaner with more room for photos and less for "borders" and titles.  I never had trouble navigating the "old" site.  I would like to see the ability to create your own "owner" Page.  I think a lot of people are having trouble with making their images small enough to upload.  On the Trailer Sailor site... it is fairly straightforward uploading pics but they simply won't go through if they are bigger than what the site specifies... (below 40K I think)
Thanks Again

Dale could not have said it better. I too had little problem with the original set up, but the new one may be more "user friendly". Captain K, your efforts are apprecitated.

crbakdesign

I found it fairly intuitive.  Went ahead and tried out the user's album feature with no problems.

Good selection!

#4
The 'New Gallery'...page does not exist. Next...

Usually when I try to upload...
Two things always happens.

1~MSN Internet Explorer message says;
Script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.
Do you want to abort the script? Yes or No?

Of course one says Yes. Otherwise the same message keeps popping back if you pick No. Next.

2~Control Panel Error; uploading image file:
My-Documents:-054.jpg: Image width invalid
My-documents:-054.jpg: Image height invalid

And so I just forget about it and say no pics today.

Now today's trailer pic was no different from any of my other pics in my doc file. See next line.

Additionally a funny thing happens after #2 above. Log off, go away for an hour, then fire up the computer again. Always the very first uploaded pic [today it was my trailer] has no problem, even thou the same #1 message pops up but the pic goes through just fine and becomes posted. I don't understand this. skip

Hi Skip,

The bugs you describe are in the old Photo Galley.  We'll be moving all the images to a new galley shortly where some of what you are seeing won't occur. You may want to wait until we make the transition before loading any more as CaptK suggests.

It was 90 in the shade down here for the first time this season.  Has the ice broken up there yet??

capn K, I could not find the new gallery either. Will try again shortly. We all appreciate your valuable time in making and keeping a place where all of these wonderful people can meet. Thank you.

Well crbakdesign, I am pleased with the new look of the old site. Very nice. Thank you.

Weather up here was 32 deg F Monday am at 3:30. Warmed to low 50's by 2:00 pm. Hard driving rain out of the north.

More of the same.
Today Wed. is nicer with 65 deg F but a 15 knot wind out of the south with t-showers tonight. Boat is still on trailer in front of house. Pretty horrible. for sailing. skip.

CaptK,

Thanks for all your work on the site.  I appreciate the work that you have done here.  I am enjoying the time spent here with people who love the ComPac line as I do.

I am unable to look at the new gallery though.  I get a message that says "does not exist".  If I am doing something wrong let me know.

Hi Troy,

I'm minding the store while CaptK is out chasing the winds in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend. I understand it's starting to get hot down there!

The new gallery is not yet on-line.  As soon as the good captain gets back from his voyage, he'll be setting up the links for all to see and use.  Thanks for the note of appreciation - We'll pass it along!  How's the Mid-West cruise coming along?

TroyVB

Thanks for the message I will watch for the new gallery.

The Midwest Cruise is coming along but I have not heard for sure how many boats and sailors are planning on it.  I am sure about myself, sawyer and Marcus.  Should be a good time.

Thanks for the work on the site.  I am enjoying it.

multimedia_smith

Thanks so much for taking the time!  The New Gallery works GREAT!  I was able to load everything I have so far into the "owner's pages"...

To those responsible for maintaining this site... we all owe a debt of gratitude.

Thanks Again

Dale

Sorry to inform you but the new site

Roger Schwake

Sorry to inform you the new sight DOES NOT EXIST on my computer? Logged off and came back with the same thing.

crbakdesign

Hi Roger\\

I'm guessing you may be clicking on the wrong link in the heading above.  Click on the last word in the heading "Gallery".  Should take you right there!

PS.  If you are logged into the forum, you are already logged into the Photo Gallery.
