It has been too long ago that I last sailed.  I have been spending some time making some improvements to ARose.  I still have a lot to do, but I am almost ready to at least begin the sailing season.

I am pleased with the way the tiller and tiller lock project turned out; fourteen coats of gloss, new Cansail http://www.cansail.com tiller lock, and some polished ss mounting plates that I found when I purchased the boat.  I got so excited that I put a few coats on the motor mount too.

I never new the buddy bearings and rims could look so good.  I hope the $2 caps will keep things clean this season.

I finally decided it was time for the old stripes to go.  I plan to paint on some new stuff soon.

Stern ladder is waiting for installation.  Vertglas http://www.vertglas.com/index.html gel coat restoration kit is on back order so I am waiting for that.  I leave for sailing school http://www.sailingschooloriental.com/ Monday.

Ricky, good for you for going to a sailing school.  I decided to take a course in 2004.  I knew I could have taught myself, but wanted to learn all I could.  I chose Offshore Sailing School, but it looks like you chose a top notch school as well.  What courses are you taking?

I can relate to wanting to go sailing again.  It has been a long Winter fer sure.  We are planning our re-launch date of this coming weekend.  May 10th or 11th, depending on the weather.  I just finished a list of 15 projects for the Summer Escape.   The biggest was making my own foil rudder.  See results  at my gallery of Doug142.

Let's go sailing.

Sorry for the delay.  I have just returned from a weeklong sailing vacation.  The sailing course at Oriental was the Basic Keelboat Certification course from US Sailing.  The school at Oriental is top notch.  That homemade rudder is interesting.  Does it make a big difference in the sailing characteristics of the boat?
