Faded Rub Rails

I'm in the process of refurbishing my recently purchase 27-2 and have been spending considerable time cleaning, detailing, polishing, varnishing, etc.  My rub rails are in great shape but the color is very faded, light grayish appearance and somewhat streaky looking.  I've tried a few products like 303, Armor All, Bondex black color restorer, pressure washing, etc. but no success.  Has anyone had any luck with something that brings the color back to black or at least darken it up to a consistent color throughout?
Thanks, Steve

Haven't found anything yet, but look forward to your answer! :)

A little acetone on a cotton rag seems to do the trick. Then a coat of Armoral will help it keep from turning gray for awhile. Good luck,

I actually tried the acetone several weeks ago and it worked.  Use care when working with this stuff -- solvent resistant gloves -- avoid the vapors, and keep it off your gelcoat.  Use several clean rags and keep turning the rags to a clean side with each swipe.  Thanks
