sail numbers

   im thinking of putting numbers on my mainsail. what do they normally cost, how are they affixed and where exactly are they located on the sail?

No help to location or size, I was wondering how you determine sail number. Do you use a set of the numbers located in the serial number/manufactures number.

In Star Boat Racing usually the sail number reflects the Hull number.
If I had a sail number on my main it would be 588, with the starboard side number below the port side number. skip.

The sail number and hull ID number (Engraved on the stern) should be the same.

If you are buying new sails, the sailmaker will know how to size them and where to apply them.
I think the size is about 8" high, and the cost is around $5, per digit.
Please don't hold me to that but it is roughly what I was quoted  a couple of years ago. I didn't buy them.

Don't forget the Com-Pac Logo while you are at it. I think that costs around $40 extra on new sails. I didn't buy that, either.
