Refurbed and refinished tiller

Finally. ;) Hadn't messed with it the whole time I've been owned by Epiphany. I think it came out nice - it is sure better than it was!

My other car is a sailboat.

Kurt - looks nice ... I did mine this past summer and it really made a difference.  Stripped it down to bare wood, then 5 coats of spar varnish with light sandings in between.  Looks and feels great.

When you reinstall the tiller make sure you tighten the bolts really well.  I'm not sure about the setup on the 23, but on a cp16 the tiller hinges onto the rudder, and can be lowered until the bottom of the tiller makes contact with the rudder gudgen.  If you don't get the bolts tight the tiller will slide up a bit and allow the aluminum hing to gouge the gelcoat on your transom.  Don't ask me how I know this ....  :(

A picture would be worth a thousand words here ... just make sure you adequately tighten the bolts that hold the tiller to the aluminum hinge.
