Today the club scheduled a picnic. One may arrive by boat or automobile. I was going to sail the short 18 miles. I was getting the Orion ready, but kept losing items so I decided to take the Compac. Joanie and I drove to the park on Sunday and I scouted the place out. Nice park. 6 slips @ $25 a night. No electric or water, but a pavilion with electricity and bathrooms. With the Compac I was going to side tie to a long dock in a small protected cove. Monday the predicted winds were SW 15-20mph and for the return on Thursday, 10-15 NW. Perfect down wind sailing both days, but as of last night all indications were for rain all afternoon and last evening the sky was not looking good. I canceled with the neighbor to take care of the dog and decided to drive there with Joanie. This morning the predictions are showing cloudy, but no rain. The river is flat. Had I left at 10am as 1st planned, I would be listening to the outboard for hours. A I look out at the creek, a light breeze is out of the SSW, but not enough to sail. Above, ominous clouds are making their way here.
