Like many Compac owners I've been searching for screens for the round ports on our 19. Today I located a company that produces bronze ports, both standard ie: Pacific Seacraft, Cape Dory, Westsail, and custom sizes.  Unfortunately like many times in my life, I'm a bit late. He stopped producing screens last May in order to concentrate on sailing and is only selling what he had in stock. However, looking over his website, it appears manufacturing screens doesn't look too hard. It's a matter of bending the bronze or brass rod into a circle and brazing it.  The screen is then brazed to the circle and a small UV protected gasket added to hold the unit in place.  I ordered some brass rod today and will experiment with bending it before buying the brass screening.

I had looked into this also years ago, Had seen some options for a stainless mesh I think. McMaster Carr was on my list for material procurement, I would think brazing them or some type of solder would work well just making sure to have the right roundness to the frame and that it fits nicely would be key for sure.
