As a former ComPac owner and presently a member of the Pacific Seacraft division of CPYOA, I would like to report:

Razor (an official ComPac owner) and I aboard Windrunner Docked overnight at Oriental.  While there we called CrazyCarl and he stopped by the marina where we shared some "Sea" stories, chow, and a drink or two aboard Windrunner.  Had a great time and look forward to the next time.

For those who have not had the honor of meeting CrazyCarl I will veryify that:
   -It is worth meeting him.
-He is actually better lookin than his profile picture, unusual for internet stuff.
-Although probably not crazy, he is interesting.

CrazyCarl, Thanks for a great and interesting evening in Oriental.

regards charlie

Charlie, as also a member of the Pacific Seacraft division of CPYOA I would concur that Carl is an interesting and slightly Crazy guy with whom I also had the great pleasure to meet!

I would also say he is dangerously susceptible to catching the Pacific Seacraft disease, of which there is no vaccination for, but after catching it recovery is usually complete with almost 100% immunity to catching it ever again! It also appears, as both us can attest to, that owning a Compac can increase your susceptibility to the disease. Carl also met PeterG who had Compacs and then came down with the Pacific Seacraft Orion variant. I got a Compac then quickly caught the Pacific Seacraft 31 variant. This happened soon after meeting PeterG. Carl has now been in close contact with not only you but PeterG and myself. It appears that symptoms have already started as he went to look at a Pacific Seacraft Flicka for sale in Oriental. It is also known that Bob23 is still struggling with resisting the disease as he also had come into close contact with the Flicka variant.

Bottom line is that it is highly contagious and that boat isolation does not appear to be very effective. I live almost 3 hours from our Pacific Seacraft infection but to little avail as heading down to her this Thursday. Oh well.

....maybe we can all hook up some time since we now or soon all may have immunity..  :)

Yes, that was I and not my twin brother who resides in Texas and has way more sailing tales than me.  (ask kickingbug or mcgyver about him)

Those who truely know me, know I'm not a drinker.  Well to be polite I excepted a beer upon boarding and then a rum, maybe 2, I don't recall.  My head was spinning and my feet were dancing in their shoes, but I'm not the one who thought the boat was aground.  I could clearly see through clouded, blurry eyes the boat's movement making the dock piling look to be moving up and down.  But then again, that could have been my head bobbing to the beat of my dancing feet.
Through casual conversation I was able to extract vital sailing locals and knowledge that will be put to good use next time I'm afloat.  Terry shared some pics of his 23 and the project he is working on.  It makes all mine look miniscule in comparison.  Charlie's PS is one gorgeous sailing vessel.  I was taken by the beauty of its teak cabin sole and still wonder how Charlie keeps it in such pristine condition.  The salon, head, birth, and galley are very well appointed, however his cookware looks like it was acquired through Sportsmans Guide as a surplus Yugoslavian field kit.  None the less, he did a superb job not burning the water used for the noodles and his wife's meat sauce was delicious.  As hosts go, he ranks right up there with Martha Stewart.
I hope to sail up to New Bern one of these days and return the favor.

p.s.  charlie asked if I really drank pbr.  how the hell did he confuse me with that curmudgeon from joirsey?

I also have had the pleasure of being aboard Charlie's PS. I agree with Carl - she is indeed a beautiful boat and Charlie is a great host!

CrazyCarl - I hope to meet you someday. I sail my CP27 out of Washington, NC. Oriental is one of my favorite places.

Carl... and to all:
I have obtained, at great personal cost and without a thought for my safely, risked my very life to obtain a secret spy photo of our very own Crazy Carl indeed caught imbibing on a PBR! For the protection of all parties involved, I cannot say how I came to be in possession of such a photo but I can assure you it's genuine! Now all I need to do is learn (again) how to post photos here!!

Charlie: Carl did not get that name for no reason and having met him on more than one occasion, I can say he truly has earned it and lives up to his reputation!!

Cheers!

Something we have been reading for many years.  There is no such picture, if there was/is, surely you would find a way to display it.  And no, I will not stop calling you Shirley.

Bob, send the picture to me and I (who now has survived the sixties twice) who can remember how to post here will do so.  Carl was crazy enough to make a stop at SML a time ago, proving his eccentric proclivities. (That's craziness in NJ vernacular, Bob)
