Oriental doesn't have a moon tide, we have a wind tide.  Depending on the directon of a strong wind the water can be up or down 2'.  Today we had a gale force wind warning.  It doesn't appear the winds attained the gale force, but they have been strong all day.  I went to our dock to check things out and the water is just under the platform.  According to https://towndock.net/ the high today was 2.2' above normal pool.  This was obvious as I went downtown to the Bean, our local coffee shop.  The Bean sits across the street from the town harbor and when the wind is right, or wrong in this case, it pushes the water onto Hodges street.  Today a patron brought a ladder to gain access to the Beans elevated front deck.  That shows just how good their coffee is!  The picture below shows another lenght coffee lovers will go to gain access to the Bean.

Yes the coffee was good at the "Bean" ;)  I was up at Put-In-Bay on Lake Erie and had a similar experience where the boat dock access was flooded at night and in the morning the water was gone.  Not sure if that was moon or wind caused or a combo of both.

The gale force wind warning is in effect to Monday evening.  The docks and basin have about 10 boats from Canada waiting to continue south.

This all so new to me.
