Hey, friends!

I am having a blast getting my sea legs back and (re)learning to sail with the help of my Com-pac Legacy, Sunny! I made a video from our recent sail, a couple days ago — the video illustrates various things such as setting up some of the running rigging, to pushing off the dock, raising the sails, filming different points of sail out on the water — and finally, coming back to the dock, bagging the jib.

I am hoping the video will be helpful to others who may be interested in viewing additional video footage of sailing a Com-pac Legacy. When I was considering the Legacy last fall, I could only find a few videos out there of the Legacy underway. Again, my hopes are that perhaps this video will be of some use to other folks who are interested in what it's like to sail a Legacy.

Here's the link to the video on my YouTube channel for Sunny, in case you're interested! :-)

Nice vid and really enjoy your blog - I sail a 16 and a 23

Nice. The water has been too thin to sail here the last couple years. So this was a nice respite.

Hi, Ken J! Thank you so much! As it turns out, I've been looking at Com-pac 23s — there are a couple for sale in my neck of the woods (well, sort of in my neck of the woods!). What year is your 23? The two I have been looking at are a 1980 and a 1981. Both are priced great — I'm really tempted! I don't want to part company with my Legacy, and I'd likely have to if we got a larger sailboat (at least that what's Hubby is telling me!) ;-D Aside from the size difference, I'd be curious if you'd be willing to compare and contrast your 16/23 vs how they sail, handle, etc. I wish that I knew someone in my area that had a 23 so that I could have an up close and personal experience! Thanks, again, for reading the blog and checking out the vid! :-)

Thank you so much, kahpho! I am making these videos, too, so that when the cold weather comes, I can watch them for a 'get-away' — we'll be hauling out in around a month or so, so long as the weather holds out, at least.

I know what you mean about 'thin water' — our lake has gone down so much. When I was a kid sailing on this lake, some 4 decades ago, the water was much, much higher. We have been experiencing drought conditions, for some time, in our area and it's really taken a toll on our lakes — and rivers (and crops, etc). Thanks so much, again, for watching the vid!

My 23 is 1997 in really nice shape - I like to keep it that way - nice boats are more enjoyable to sail 😐 In my opinion wait for the right one in best shape you can find - I?m glad to answer any questions - it feels a LOT bigger than the 16 - mast is more effort to raise - bigger cabin is nice and feels more solid - less tender ? Than the 16 - other than that both boats are an absolute pleasure to sail- I have the 16 here in Colorado ona smaller lake and the 23 in Az on a larger lake  - sail the 16 in summer 23 in winter if I was forced to keep one over the other it would probably be the 16 - Ido love them both though - maybe feel a little safer in the larger boat ? Hope that helps - please ask away if there is anything I?ve missed

Hi, Ken J!

I'm so sorry for my late reply and thank you so very much for all of the great information! I'm going to send you a PM here on the forum — thx so much, again!

Hello, Legacy Lovers & Fans! My hubby and I had a beautiful October sail this past Friday with our Legacy, Sunny! We captured video footage -- some of it using our new 'selfie-stick' -- btw, those things aren't as easy to use as they look -- I'm definitely going to need to improve my skills using it! ;D I really enjoy making these videos as I love chronicling my journey with Sunny! She teaches me not only about sailing, but also how to live, fully, from one's heart -- and to always, always, be mindful of gratitude! I feel so blessed to have her in my life! Sunny and I hope you enjoy our latest video, complete with some of my own original music to accompany the video footage!
