Can't upload an avatar

Here's the error I get when trying to upload an avatar to my profile:

This page isn't working right now
cpyoa.com can't currently handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500

My file is a .jpg and only 130x130 so I don't think it's due to size. Anything else I should try?

I tried posting a 284kb pic and received that same message.  When I deleted the pic and tried to post, it tells me I already posted, but nothing is there.
