"idouglas, I don't have a roller furler either.  Have you installed a down haul on the jib to avoid going forward?  By any chance do you have a Genoa for your 16?  After reading many posts about improving the down wind performance I would like to give one a try.  Let me also know what you think of your IDA rudder when you install it. Good Sailing...bbradbury"

idouglas response:

Yes I will be installing down hauls on my foresails to avoid going forward while under way.  Since I keep my boat on a mooring, I still need to go forward each time I go out, with the boat bobbing on the mooring, to hank on the sails .  Lifelines are nice then.

My CP-16 XL did not come with a Genoa and after sailing it in light air I really missed having one.  I spent much of the fall researching the right size and best manufacturer for a 155% Genoa.  Check out the thread "155% Genoa Measurement" on this CP-16 model specific forum by using the search engine.  I ended up purchasing a custom cut 155% Genoa from National Sail Supply.  It looks great, but since I am in Massachusetts I have yet to try it out.  Can barely wait for spring.  Let me know if you want more info on the sail.
