Hi,
Just picked up my 'new' 2008 Picnic Cat this afternoon on the east coast of Florida and brought her back to Tampa Bay. I have mostly sailed a Sunfish up to now. Any tips to share that you have found especially helpful? I took her for a first sail and the rigging and sail went well.
Many thanks!

Welcome Sue B. Bay!
While I'm a 23  guy, I did have occasion to sail aboard a Suncat a few years ago and was thoroughly impressed. If I ever downsized, the a Suncat I would go!
Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures!

Welcome!

Suggest you spend some time on the PicnicCat section of this forum which has lots of good stuff.  The link I posted a couple of years ago has a sailing manual for catboats which should help a lot  http://cpyoa.geekworkshosting.com/forum/index.php?topic=7604.msg55992#msg55992

Welcome Sue B, also read up on forum member Bruce, he has Picnic Cat and has done all types of mods and improvements to it. He has posted a number of them even in the Suncat forum. Here is link to the list of his posts:

Welcome, Sue!

We got our PC in 2010 and have enjoyed her very much. Much drier sail than the Sunfish, with great storage and much more room for friends. That you've had her out already, and things went smoothly, is a good sign that the boat is set up well. If you have any questions, we'll try and help!

Thanks for the links and encouraging comments. Will check them out and be back in touch!

Congratulations on the new boat.  Picnic Cats are really hard to find on the used market.  My guess is that no one who has one wants to sell it.  Happy to be on my Suncat, but I would have been very tempted to jump on a Picnic Cat in decent shape.

I agree, it can be hard to find a good PC at times, but oddly this spring I knew of 3-4 available, including Clark Mill's prototype, hull #0!

If anyone is interested in other possibilities PM me and I'll check around.
