Newby to fold

Hello all,
new to the forum and to Com-pac boats. I've owned and built many differant boats in my life but have been without for a few years. Well, it's finely time to feel the wind again. In the last few months I've been looking and learning about many differant types and sizes of sailboats that would be right for my priorities. The CP 16's meet my wants to a tee. They also have beautiful lines.  As of this date of posting I haven't brought together more than 2 or 3k for this boat but should have 4 or 5k in a month or two. I've been reading the post's on this forum as a guest and I feel that this is the community that I want to be a part of. Y'all have been very helpfull to me making up my mind to buying this boat. There is only one thing that I have not been able to come up with. I need to know what the o/a length, width and height of the boat and trailer combind is. I live out here in California and might need to ship the boat and trailer. Also, my garage is only 19' deep x 8' wide x 6'10" high at the door. Are all models about the same length on the trailer or are the bow spirit boats longer on there trailers? I may need to add a folding tongue.

  I'm emailing you the 20 page application form which must be notarized, filled out in it's entirety and returned to me along with the non refundable check made out to me in the amount of $5000.00. I don't think you'll have any problem getting approved by our review board...especially once the check clears!!
  Glad you're aboard. If you been lurking around here awhile, you must realized that there is a fair bit of shenanigans going on...feel free to join in!
   I'm a 23 guy but I'm sure all your questions about a 16 will be answered. The 16 is a wonderful boat and I always am keeping my eye out for one that's looking for a good home.
  What have you built in the past? Just curious. Again, welcome aboard!!

Since I am also a New user, don't worry about sending the checks to any of the above.  Being a new user, just send half of the check to me, and keep the other half for yourself.  Sounds like you just were offered a great deal.  50 percent savings....

First of all, I would like to thank all of you for your generous donations to my boat fund! I will be anxiously looking for all those checks in my mail box! Bob 23, thanks for the heads up about KGB Tim. Luckily I'm more of a English ale kind of guy.

As for my boating back round. My dad was aboard a Liberty ship during WW2. So some of my earliest memories were of my Dad building boats. I started building rafts at the age of 7. After numerous trials and a lot of errors I built a sailing pram at the age of 12. Since then I have been fortunate enough to have had boats like a 17' Boston Whaler, 25' Fiberform flying bridge cruiser, scratch built 23' Glen L cruiser and trailer (3 years making), 25' Wellcraft T top coastal cruiser and my last boat was a Glen L design 23' Fancy Free gaff headed sharpie sloop and trailer (both Scratch built over 6 years). These are to name a few. I couldn't ever afford a new boat so the boats that weren't scratch built were overhauled or rebuilt to make them "MY" boats. This time around, I want a really nice boat to begin with and tweak it the way I want.

BTW, Bob23, I'll make sure that I include my SS#, mothers maiden name, drivers license # and my current shoe size on your 20 page app papers.

Ahoy Ron, Welcome and i clearly am just a little prejudiced to the 16's as have now owned two of them over the years. There are many wonderful boats out there, but these seem to have a special place in the world of little boats. I have included a link to Keith Scott's website who will forget more than I will ever learn about sailing them. Look for the article on 'Sweet 16" and 'The Best Boat to Learn' for some great tips.

are you wanting to buy me a beer or a Patrol Boat River? Ill take anything that's free. I almost bought a PBR once but my wife though it inappropriate for a fishing boat to have twin .50s on it. I tried to tell her that those were only for the fish I couldn't gaff.
She didn't go for it

Welcome.
Did you get an answer to the dimensions question relative to your garage. The 8ft and 19ft dimensions should work, particularly with a fold back tongue. The 6'10" dimension sounds very tight. The pulpit is the high point on my 16. If you have a level drive you may be able to work the trailer / boat in with a hand dolly.
I have 10 inch tires. My flat foot reach is 7'10", I can barely touch the top of the pulpit from the ground. Pretty scientific..huh! But the bow is up somewhat to drain aft.

If you need a true dimension, I will measure next time at the marina.

I have had a off road car on a trailer that was this close and I had to un hook the trailer, lower the tongue jack down as far as it would go and roll it back and shoe horn it in. The garage is actually 16' wide but it has to share it with my wife's car. I think the height will work.
I will probably need to have the boat that I find shipped out to me since I live out west and most of these boats are back east or at least mid west. If I can't trailer it back myself, the shipper has to have the correct dimensions to fit it on/in his trailer. I have looked everywhere on line and have found many other boats exact dimensions but for some reason haven't found a Com-pac 16s. I even tried Hutchins/Com-pac yachts in Florida and all they did was send me Legacy info. I'm hoping to find the right 16 somewhere with in 1000 miles or so. But if I have to have it shipped because of distance or the trailer is not up to being trailered this information would help a lot.
