Greetings all-

I just bumped into this website. I am the proud owner of Eclipse 81, "Navigator" - berthed on Lake Mendota.

She's scratch-built, a 2018 model,  with as many bells and whistles as I could afford.

All that being said, I've never owned a sailboat before, and it's been a long time since I've sailed regularly - like 20+ years. Also, I'm discovering the nuances of lake sailing, since I grew up on the coast.

Part of the reason my wife and I decided upon an Eclipse is the trailerability aspect. We hope to tow her around to the Great Lakes, the Mississippi, and maybe even to a coast at some point.

For now, I'm literally learning the ropes. Anyone in Wisconsin that sails a Com-Pac, I'd love to share a beer with you.

Welcome Az and congrats on (probably) having the newest Eclipse on this site.   I see you have registered here--wish more Eclipse owners would.

There are several people on here with Eclipses that are very knowledgeable on the boats and willing to share widely.

Just finishing this week is a sail outing at Clear Lake, IL, which is not too far from you.  I hope to make it one year soon.

My Eclipse is #68 (IIRC) and is a 2012 model.

If you post on the Eclipse site, you will likely get more communication.

My first sail with Eclipse #49 was on Lake Mendota and if you run into (not literally please), Off The Wind, a Precision 21, that is my previous boat.  The Lake is a great sailing lake that I have always enjoyed.  My Eclipse is in a slip on Lake Pistakee, part of the Chain of lakes in illinois.  I have pulled her and brought her up to Lake Mendota but have no plans to do that this year.  Maybe we could meet in the middle for lunch or you are always welcome to come down and sail with me?

I agree with Ron that you will get more responses posting to the Eclipse side of this board.  Welcome.

Come on up to Fish Creek (Door Co).  We have islands, harbor villages and lots of gunk holes.  We also have lots of places for a beer.  I have a CP 16 I sail off an island in the Bay.
