Finally in the water

So, after having to scrape my windows in the morning one last time this week, the weather seems to have gone from winter to summer, skipping spring...

The marina was getting antsy as I hadn't paid for a trailer spot, but no one had put boats in slips, so I wasn't sure what the rush was.  Regardless, the Babalele is in the water, alone and unafraid.  Difficult launch as silt had built up on the ramp over the winter.  My coworker helped me get the lines set, but we sure were tempted to sail off into the afternoon sun.  That's Havre de Grace off in the distance, should be leisurely sails in the northern Chesapeake.  Maybe some trips up into Elk River.

Finbar Beagle

Justin,

Congrats, she looks good.  In Bel Air, MD celebrating old friend's 60th.  Yesterday's weather looked perfect for a boat launch.

Boat looks great in the water. I just had 1 1/2" of snow this morning and no weather above 50 degrees for the next week. Get out there and sail a couple miles for me.

hi,
l just prep mine this last tuesday and i hope will put in the slip next week .
my slip start may 1st.

question.
how did you winterize your boat ?
i removed the sails, put the boom in the cabin and a big tarp over the boat.
but i think next time,  will let everything in transport position. (with the tarp on top)

Pascal, for this past winter I just kept the boat on the trailer, mast upright and boom attached, at the marina (sails stored at the house).  I used a canvas tarp over the boom and tied to the stanchions and rails to keep rain/snow from sneaking in the crack at the hatch.  This survived a big wind storm earlier this year; I figured I might have lost the tarp... the plastic trailer block blew across the yard and the boat was turned a bit, but the canvas survived.

Thanks you,
since i bought the boat (my first)  in July 2017, and i saw that the owner dismounted the sail , the boom etc.. , i did the same.
But that way , you have a better understanding where everything goes !!!
