Trouble

Sharing something that happened to my 2017 ECLIPSE, on the 1400 mile drive back from Clearwater last May.


First, the hard nylon bow stop wheel mashed and cut into the Gelcoat on the bow.  The boat was cranked down hard, as furnished, and I left it that way for the drive.
The photo shows the bow stop wheel wore clean through the tan colored plastic and into the white plastic core, and ate a hole in the Gelcoat during the haul.

Gerry at Com-Pac offered a very reasonably priced Stainless bow cap, and I had a local service outfit, Torresen Marine, INC. install it (in addition to having them drill the tiller handle for a FORESPAR 27"-48" twist-lock extension and re-rivet one of the internal plates in the mast where the stays insert (one rivet had broke, on the first time out).  I will be returning to that shop every time, I was very pleased with the work and cost.



While in for repairs, the specialist noticed the trailer had a fully cracked weld on the bow stop.


The fix for the cracked weld for the cost of a six-pack (bow cap installed)

Penn- she's a beautiful boat. Too bad about the roller episode but sounds like you got a good fix for it and a great shop. Definitely something I will look out for.
Question for you; where did you get/make the boom tent? What's the material? It looks like the perfect size and something I'd like to do.

I have the 100"X96" version of this awning.
I think the next larger size would be even better.

I also put in a topping lift using a Barnett Butterfly boom Vang block on the top back of the Eclipse boom and Sail Track Stop to push the boom up which makes moving about in the cockpit more comfortable.

Interesting your trailer has a bow roller.  Mine has a Y-stop.  The bow is pretty much vertical so I don't see a purpose for a roller and would think a Y-stop would hold things more secure and not wear through like that.
