Dodged a bullet last weekend

We dodged a bullet last weekend. The Massacusetts coast got whacked by a Nor'easter/bomb cyclone that did massive damage to many communities. My little town, Marion, had 100% of residences without power for almost 3 days. We just got power back and hour ago. Thank goodness for generators.

While we didn't sustain any damage as we had many trees taken down last fall in anticipation of future storms. Many neighbors were not as fortunate, one had a tree crash through their roof into their dining room.

Winds gusted 90 mph close by us and the wave action was pretty rough in Buzzards Bay. Our development has a stone and piling dock that is a direct hit during these kinds of storms but it continues to survive. Continued maintenance has made the difference (it was built in 1948 and shored up after Hurricane Bob in '91).

Would that have been Hurricane Bob23?  Glad the bullet missed.

You got it, Tim!
Glad you dodged the bullet, Bristol. I'll aim better next time!

Glad it wasn't any worse up there. Getting my pre storm season plans in place down here on the Gulf Coast. Including removing a couple of pine trees that have grown enough to reach the house.

So Bob23 how was it in your part of Joisy.  My son in Philly got hammered with an unexpected blizzard.

Hardly any snow...high winds and high tides! And still the high water remains so we'll see what tomorrow's nor'easter brings!

Riverside Rhode Island here. Tarp on my 19 started to come off so to prevent damage to the newly painted hull just I went out and removed them. Didn't even try to lash it down. Now I can view my boat as  I drink my morning coffee. Can't wait to start setting her up and then launching her.

The last two years that I have lived here, I have had one old, large silver maple taken down, half a black locust and all the the dead wood removed from another large maple. Tree maintenance can be expensive, but not as expensive as neglect. Only lost power for an hour or so.

bob, make sure you bring some of that wind to the clr this summer----along with that little sailboat (any kind will do)

I bottled plenty of wind, Kick. Still looking at the boat. Might be as small as a Sunfish and of course- Straggler the intrepid rowing vessel.

I'm up at the top of the Mt. Hope Bay in the Fall River, MA area and my neighborhood lost power from 4:30 - 11:30 pm. Boat was fine on its trailer under a tarp. Glad I had a few tall pines near the house cut down a year ago. Peak winds on Cape Cod were reported in excess of 90 mph in spots.
