I am refurbishing a  1977 com PAC 16. Would be great if I could see some pics as to how the suspension post.

I think you mean Compression post.   It bolts to the bulkhead and point straight up to the cabin.  Does your boat not have this item?  If not, curse the prior owner as this is an important component!
