Here is my solution to securing the mast to the boat for trailering. I had a 2x4 with 500 bungees or so for each end. This soultion drops the wooden support / brace over the bow & stern pulpit rails then you just secure the mast ends into the valley cut into the 3 1/2" x 6" brace. Now I just use 1 or 2 bungees to secure the mast to the brace. It isn't going anywhere and due to the "angle" of the rails and the deep groves cut into the brace that match those angles. To finish, I removed some weight with the band saw, belt sanded and applied 4 coats of amber shellac. The bow brace is still unfinished in the pics. Most impressive is the fact that I spelled it  "Angle" and "Angel" for a change.

What a great plan.  Thanks for another winter project idea.

Hey Gary:
Super solution.  Our C=-16 did not have a stern pulpit so I wound up suing the IdaRudder extension after trying three other options.  We also used a piece of PVC with end caps attached to the trailer with zip ties under the bunks to transport the boom.

Again nice looking work.

Smooth sailing.
