Anyone interesting in an impromptu get together in September? I envision just a few of us meeting at Tice's (or somewhere else of our choosing) to over night, eat, gab, swim, drink a bit and just enjoy the best sailing season on the Jersey Shore.
The only weekend I can't make it is the 16th. But I'm open to suggestions. I don't want this to be complicated, just an informal meetup and overnight. I could arrive Friday evening and stay through Sunday.
  Your thoughts?

Hi Bob,
I'm planning on coming out this weekend with the Kids (Lexi is in Texas this weekend).   Details of staying at Tices on Sat/Sun, vs coming to harbor overnight TBD.  Other weekends are also possible.
Last 2x out I've been able to single hand, and autopilot is now ~3/4 installed (long story...) which will make that operation even easier, so mostly dependent on Lexi's Honey do list at home.

Wow, Larry that's great! An auto pilot is nice to have. What day will you be out this weekend? I'm flexible- 4 days off from work! But tomorrow is spoken for.

lkm

4 days off!  Oh, the life...
I have to work Friday, so I'll be up Saturday AM, then will need to provision and I want to see if I can do the 1/4 autopilot install bit Sat AM.
But, I hope to be on the sailing by early afternoon, then will likely stay at Tice's overnight.  I might also stay out on Sunday too since I do at least get 1 day. We can raft up if I know where you are (could be a zoo out there this weekend).
I'll have a bottle of my standard Red.

Keeping an eye for Irma as well. Things are looking interesting in the tropics as of late!

We could use some of Harvey's rain, still kinda dry round here (back home now). i know Houston area got dumped on with some areas receiving more than 50 inches since last Friday evening but many forget the devastation that occurred just one county down from us when Camille dumped an official 31" of rain in less than 6 hours overnight. Many were never found and the scars are still visible. Let's hope this season ends quietly.

Hope the weather cooperates for you guys.

OBTW Bob, it's technically BBB 11.2, or is it 11.1? I dunno   :)

BBB 11.1 happened already...and a great (if not entirely sober) time was had by all. So this would be 11.2. Plenty of Gosslings on board at all time; ready for all emergencies!!

Hmmm...thought that was 11.0, well regardless having the correct first aid kit is key!

Oh yeah, I stand corrected. I always sucked at math! Whatever the actual number is, the second BBB in the year of our Lord 2017 is the one I speak of here on these sacred pages!

Wife is doing her FEMA job in Austin.
Her cat snuck out last night, and I am not sailing today as I am searching for the wretched one, who is probably napping with the bunnies under the porch.

Looks like break in weather Sunday afternoon.

I might be able to make it to tices Sunday night, Monday early afternoon looks more probable. I need to check wind direction, but consider me a strong, possible, maybe-ish

Sail Flow wind prediction for Sunday afternoon does not look good for a 16 mile beat to tices.  Wind from south, over 15mph.  I can do an early start on Monday, and be off Tices Shoals @11am.  Low wind Monday morning gives my mighty Torqeedo outboard (read as frozen drink blender) a good chance for quick passage to Seaside bridge, and sails up off Toms River.

It may be hard to pass the mooring balls at Martells Bar...but I can do it, at least on the southbound journey

Back to cat hunting...

Hey Bob,
As much as I am tempted I'm going to pass on this one.   I hope to get the grandkids out on the boat as soon as the opportunity presents itself so I will be sailing here in upstate NY.
Thanks and be safe,

Understood, all. The BBB 2017.2 if it happens, will be almost spur of the moment. Yesterday, whilst out sailing late afternoon, I got a text from Larry (LKMK) who was overnighting at Tice's with his 2 daughters. We detoured over, rafted up and enjoyed a special spontaneous afternoon sampling his red wine and watching a spectacular NJ sunset. And...Stephanie and Mikaila treated me to a new sandwich creation of thiers named the "October Wind Sensational Seasonal Sandwich" which consisted of peanut butter, Jelly and pepperoni on whole wheat bread. Thanks girls, it was delish!!
Sailed back in the dark under a rising moon and steady SSW wind which meant mucho tacking. Tied up at 10:30 and headed back to the barn.

Well, I had a fun.   3 days sailing, first in Rain, then 10-15 w/ Gusts to 25 kt, then a light 8 kts today.  Overnight at Tices wasn't that rolly at all despite winds from the West. Girls loved it too.   Thanks for the crackers Bob.   By the way - Bob at the whole sandwich.  Thats some iron stomach.

Thinking of crossing the great Seaside Bridge Divide early on Saturday September 23rd, solo.

Let me know if I should keep an eye out for any compac-ers.  Will load water cannon...

Need to watch weather, and alcohol intake on Friday...
