I am happy to report that Saga has been sold.  I have passed the information about this site on to him and I hope that he gets on here.  He is a great guy and has great plans for Saga.

I will probably hang around, the company is too good!

Sad congratulations are in order. I'm sure everyone is curious about your next boat. Stay tuned. This place is like the Mafia: Once you're in, you're in for good!

Life is getting in the way of having the time of going down to CB to sail.  I will probably be keel hauled for this but I will probably move to a flats skiff for a while so I can take short two hour fishing trips and get back in quickly.  I will still be sailing with some friends once in a while but I am taking a break from sailboat ownership.  Hopefully, in the next year, my wife and I will have a kid and I knew that Saga would just sit there and languish.  That wasn't right.

The new owner seems like a great guy.

Mas

Hey Heave, congrats on Saga going to a good home. We felt the same about No Mas. Sometimes it is just time for something to change. We were your age when we gave up sailing, now look what happened since we returned!

Still think you gotta get that 16! We regretted selling ours the very next sailing season even though we knew she would get used little. So easy to take out and also store if not used. Regardless how you proceed from here it would be a shame for you to disappear and like Bob says, "once you're in, you're in for good!"

Robert

Ahoy, all!

I'm Robert Banks, from Bristol, TN and the new owner of Saga. This is my 7th sailboat, starting with an 11' Lockley Sea Devil in the early '70s, and more recently, a Cabo Rico 38 on the North Carolina coast; now, the lovely Saga, a CP23, kept on Watauga Lake in the mountains of Northeast TN.

Best wishes to Matt, who made quite a few well-thought modifications to this lovely, little ship. She'll live, mostly, in a slip at Lakeshore Resort and Marina, Hampton, TN, but I'll also trailer her bigger water, including Chesapeake Bay and the Keys. I'm a former live-aboard and active cruiser, but the time has come for smaller boats and life ashore.

I look forward to meeting, greeting and learning from the ComPac family of owners.

Best wishes, fair winds,

Robert

Welcome Robert. We also had a 23 for a brief period, they are great little boats! Matt, spent much time and effort setting her up to cruise, am sure you will enjoy her.

Welcome, Robert,

I have an older CP 23, and a WindRider 17.

That lake of yours looks like a fun place to sail. Can you recommend a campground nearby? I am planning to cross over from NC through TN and wind up at Kentucky Lake. I see that I could go via your area, or just stay on 40 and try another spot to stop in TN somewhere else. It's only 4-5 hours from Raleigh, so I might be trying to go further anyway.

Regardless of that, glad to have you on the forum.

Glad that Robert found his way onto this site, I suggested it.

As for me, I am not dead :)  I will still be around.  Time and energy just seem to pull me away from sailing right now.  I also have a lot of friends and family with standing offers to sail and cruise so I can still get my fix when it gets really bad.

Enjoy Saga and I hope that you have a lot of adventures.  Boats can sometimes find people and I think that Saga found me at a good time and I believe that she found Robert at a good time.

Congratulations. You know what they say, "The two happiest days in a boaters life are the day he buys his boat and the day he sells it."
Face your fears. Chase your dreams.

Yes, but do you have offers to work on a boat?  My rudder needs some help, a solar panel needs to be installed, bimini fabricated, and lighting/switches installed with cables run throughout.  If you want there is scrubbing the keel and polishing the decks.  I'm offering the opportunity to do the things you will really miss.

Robert, welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the boat; there is lots of good information here, and the people are friendly also.
