I think Petit makes some bottom paint in colors..."Vivid" if I remember right. How 'bout a nice orange bottom?

Thanks, Bob yes I was checking into Vivid.  Depending on the light conditions and angle of view, the hull looks like either "Green 1 white" or "1 Blue/4White" from the below link. And in very low light is starts to look more like "4 Green 1 Yellow".   I wonder if I can match it up!?!

Black or white would probably look good too. Or go hooker orange ( 4 Yellow/1 Red) as you said. If it looks too Miami beach the bottom paint will be repainted eventually anyway!

Still am thinking about new names and have narrowed down to a few.  I suppose that I won't be able to share it until the official renaming ceremony has been finalized..bad luck for sure.

The "restoration" is coming along really well.  That seems a little funny to me because the boat is in excellent shape and just needs some elbow grease, so restoration is too strong of a word.

One hull side is completely done and looks "new"!  I resanded some areas, recompounded/glazed those sanded areas and put on 3 coats of Collinite Fleet Paste wax.  The other side is half sanded and obviously needs more work.  The transom does not need sanding but rather compounding, polish and wax only.  Unfortunately the weather is now turning into winter here so wet sanding just isn't going to happen!  The boat is officially now stored in a barn for the winter so the rest will have to wait until spring.

As for bottom paint, I'm leaning towards just plain 'ol white as the final coat color. Still plenty of time to decide that. Not looking forward to this...looks like the bottom epoxy coats and paint layers should be applied the same day for best results-at least for Petit and WM CPP+.

Do all the bottom epoxy and paint combinations require same day application?  Seems like that would take you all day and hald the evening?

All kidding aside, Salty.
I use Pettit Hydrocoat exclusively. While I am very color conscious above the waterline, below it I want something that works great. I just pulled "Koinonia" on Saturday after being in since April 18th and had one, yup, count it- one whole barnacle. Best thing is, no need to recoat in the spring if there is paint still on the boat. Just a touchup is all that's needed. I got 3 years out of a single coat this way till I felt guilty and recoated the entire boat this spring.
But, yes, you need to apply a coat of hard bottom paint first. Usually we use just that for the first season then switch to Hydrocoat for the next seasons.
I have never applied an epoxy barrier coat to my vessel but my friend did on his Morgan 30. Yes, before the last bottom coat coat dried, he applied the hard bottom paint. Stuck like glue!
Bob23...just my 2 cents...again

gotta tell ya buddy she looks almost as good as the little lady (that she should be named after). kidding aside, just beautiful (my daughters favorite color teal). unique to be sure. makes my 16 look a bit dowdy but you know how i love com-pacs. we hope to see the three of you next year. give her a kiss on the cheek and put her to bed (the boat that is)

Thanks, Bob...yep I know I gotta do the epoxy coat.  And from what I've been reading you are right--slap that paint on while the last barrier coat is drying or basically right away.  I had to laugh a little bit because just an hour ago when discussing this subject with my wife "I really don't care what color it (below water line paint) is..all I care about is that it will do a good job".  I"ll look into Hydrocoat, thanks for the tip.

Oh and wowzers one barnacle is nothing in that bay of yours!  I bet you've seen your share of them on other boats less cared for than Koinonia.  Here at the little puddle in central Ohio where I moor, there is lots of slime and grassy grow but nary a muscle or barnacle. But I would trade a barnacle or two for sailing the open waters you enjoy anytime!

Steve-o, definitely planning on a sailing trip out to Carlyle Lake this year.  My lips are already smacking for the BBQ! It would be a lot of fun to get a few other sailors out there--what a nice lake and of course Compac owners are the best!  P.S. Will send you a few pics on email.
