Gents:
This is very simple for me. I have no basement and no garage. Each year, all I do is disconnect every wire from the battery, top off with distilled water if it needs it (which is rarely) and hook up the slow charger. Most years, the battery reads 95% and lately it's right at 100% so no charging is needed. I guess my little solar panel works just fine.
Next I bid all those hard working and faithful electrons and good winters nap, tuck them in and off into hibernation they go.

so this means that i can just leave my battery in the boat (which is in the garage) over the winter as long as it is charged====right?

Mine is outside all winter...on the boat...no problem! And it's going on 9 years old.
