Phebus,
I have a danforth anchor I you can have if you want to come pick it up. I think it is 8lbs (but not sure) it says for boats up to 24'. It is the same size I use on my boat. not too big though. I also have some chain you can have, about 5-10'. but no rope or shackels.

Let me know if you are interested.

And my boat has spider cracks a plenty. They give her character. No need to fix, unless you just have money to burn.

Phebus,

Congrats on the purchase. I'm sure Billy will fix you up with the anchor and chain.

Good luck with the boat, and getting her out sailing!

Billy,

Thanks for the offers, but I live over 4 hrs away in Hollywood FL. I will look you up if I ever have plans to be in your area.

Have you had any issues using an 8 lb danforth?  I talked to a few people today that were telling me 13-20lb danforth s. Salty said a lot of people on here recommend  a 11-14lb CQR or Bruce/Claw with 20' of chains an rope.

Thanks,
Phebus

" Have you had any issues using an 8 lb Danforth? "

That's my main ground tackle anchor. An 8 lb is perfect for a CP-19.
I also have a 4 lb Danforth lunch anchor that I can toss out and tie off of the stern cleat when I just want to park the boat and have a bite of lunch.

The other types of anchors are also fine but they have limits.

I like the Danforth. The U.S. Navy likes the Danforth, and our 100 foot long taconite freighters likes them too. The design is well proven. It's the design, not the weight that holds the boat. Go galvanized, not stainless steel.

So that's what I use. Check out an earlier post about the Bow Sprits.

Additionally the anchor is attached to 10 ft of vinyl coated chain [you want vinyl because it holds it's shape on the deck and doesn't slop around] and I have 120 foot of three strand nylon line with the end tied to the compression post. The anchor is pinned on the bow roller for easy deployment. Do not hang the anchor from the bow pulpit. On the bow sprit or deck. Don't want to snag the headsail.
