See This guy knows, 'cause he has bobbed around in the 'salt' enough to have knowledge of things only I dream of.skip Thanks John. Loved you site and stories about the Happy Hooker....

I am on a 1988 27/2 and I left home port in Panama City Florida first of March.  I am currently in Marathon and heading to the Bahamas and down the chain in my Com-Pac.  They are great boats and I have gotten nothing but compliments on the boat.   I replaced thru hulls, added 165 watt solar panel, beefed up batteries and numerous other things, but nothing major as far as hull structure and rigging goes.   I think cruising safely is about being prudent, picking good weather windows and using good judgement regardless of boat size.   They are solid boats and I would take this boat any day over a larger Catalina, Benateau or some of the other production  boats.    I love this little boat and feel perfectly safe in her.  She has a 10 hp diesel which is not huge, but pushes her pretty well.  Crazy?? Maybe, but hey, she is paid for and I am having an awesome time  :)

I've seen your fine vessel on the Sailfar.net site and she's a beaut!  I urge all you lubbers to stop in at sailfar.net and take a gander.  Most of our fleet is a bit on the small size for long distance cruising, but it's always great to see one of our own on the great blue sea. I've heard of a few 19's and 23's that have made the stream crossing to the Bahama's from South Florida.  I'll probably have to wait till I win the lottery for that one.

Have a great voyage!

We just had a gentleman come into port 76 years young on 40 foot motor sailor of the 70 vintage. He lost his wife several years ago and has been on the water since. He has sailed all around the coastal US and through the Caribbean...... I guess you never get to old to live your dreams.

Regards and warm weather
