Favorite Rum?

Found some nice rum called 20 Boat out of Trury Vineyards in Cape Cod.

Next time I'm out there I'm stocking up.

The 'ol standbyes would have to be Sailor Jerry's, Kraken, Bacardi Gold or Select, Capt Morgan's, and of course Captain Morgan's Lime Bite, which isn't available everywhere.  Cruzan and Malibu is usually on-hand but not in Dark and Stormys.

I make Dark 'n Stormys in moderation with various ginger beers and rums-whatever is there.  I don't know if ginger beer has become more popular because it seems to be no trouble finding six or more brands locally here in "the city" these days. Used to be a hunt high and low for it.  There is even a Kroger (big grocery chain) brand now.  I like Bundaberg brand the best and it's at Costco of all places.  They are definitely love them or hate them drinks.  My wife and a couple of friends can't stand 'em.

Something I haven't seen mentioned here is bitters.  Add about 4-6 drops of Angostura Bitters, drops of lime juice (if not using a lime), ice, rum and ginger beer.

I'm a traditionalist.

Bacardi Anejo, or Barrilito, served with Coke on ice and a slice of lemon.

The r&C was called  "una Cuba Libre", a "free Cuba".  But since Cuba hasn't been free for a long time, its now called
"una mentirita", or "a little white lie".

Well, the wealth of information from all the salts who sail their with their favorite bottle of rum is most interesting!
I've made my  list and will be sure and save room in the cooler for a spiced rum!

The List of favorite Rum's continues....excellent resources.  I'm making a list and checking it twice.
The good news here in Ga. is that our local larger lakes are back to normal levels after 9  mos. of terrible levels.  So, hopefully this week I'll get SVGeorgia Gyspy wet and under sail!

The taste was amazing. I say "was" because it's all gone. I bought it straight from the distillery in Grenada, and I really do need to find a way to get back there for some more. It's not a "smooth" rum by any means but it has real character and takes you back to the early days of cane farming and rum production. I'm sure Jack Sparrow would have been drinking this stuff.

Okay! I am not a purist but have had one or two Rum & Cokes.  The CFO swears by Capt'n Morgans.  However, our daughter just returned from what is euphemistically called an EastPac USCG patrol with some "Ron Zacapa Centenario" Edition Negra and some other Spanish words rum.  I like scotch but this is nearly sipping' rum.  She bought it in Honduras.  Good stuff, probably couldn't afford it, but it certainly tastes good.

Smooth Sailing and smoother Rum.
