Your input -- how to affix onto marine carpet

I have a 2024 Com-Pac Legacy and her cabin/interior is finished off with marine carpet everywhere -- ceiling, overhead, etc. I would love to install gear hammocks port and starboard inside the cabin, however, there is no wood in which to drill so that I could hang the hammocks.

The above said, I got to thinking:

What about using hook and loop velcro? Instead of using gear hammocks, I could use canvas pockets, similar to/sort of like those canvas pocket line holders people affix to the outside of the bulkhead which separates the cabin from the cockpit -- you know, these store excess lines so that you're not tripping over it in the cockpit. But, I would want much larger pockets, though -- so as to store things like towels, hand-wipes, sunscreen, and other doo-dads.

I thought I could sew on industrial-strength (if there is such a thing) velcro to the canvas pocket holders and then use the adhesive-style opposing side of velcro on the marine carpet which lines the ceiling (the sides) inside the boat's cabin. I am not sure how this adhesive that comes on velcro would work on marine-grade carpet? Maybe it would not tack onto the carpet effectively.

The alternative would be to purchase a marine-grade adhesive material to apply to the back of plain (non-adhesive) velcro and then adhere this to the marine carpet inside on the boat.

I am thinking out loud, here, and/or seeking alternative suggestions to how I could create storage on the sides (ceiling not overhead) of the boat -- again, much like people use those gear hammocks in their boats. Input and ideas are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I have a hammock in my 19. It hangs from the interior bolts of the bow rail and lifeline stanchion. I'll post I pic tomorrow.

Looking at mine the front is hanging from the bow pulpit bolts. I added a large fender washer to it. The other end is hung the same way by the chainplate.

Wow!!! OK, Carl -- that is so cool and thank you for sharing those pictures so that I could check out how you set up the gear hammocks in your boat. I'll have to look back to interior pics of my Legacy to see what I have going on with existing hardware -- my boat is tarped up, so hopefully, I'll have some pics to help me figure it out.

I got to thinking all the more that it would (probably) be a bad idea to adhere anything, really, to the marine carpet inside the boat with a glue/adhesive/etc -- I'd imagine it'd likely never come off and if in trying to remove it, it would be a disastrous situation. Your solution sounds superior and, hopefully, my boat will have something I can work with to accomplish my goal.

Thanks, again, for chiming in! So appreciate it!
