It's a buyer's market, folks!

I've got two boats for sale (a 25 and Legacy)...maybe even a third, shortly (my 23). I priced my boats for what I believed to be a fair price (I watch the market like a hawk and have for years), but not many takers -- unless you call keel/bilge kickers legit inquiries. (I don't.) Anyhow, after a few weeks on the market, I reduced my prices -- and presto -- I've had potential buyers reaching out like crazy. It's definitely a buyer's market, folks, and if you want, ummm, need to sell, lowering your price just might do the trick. I just did a recent podcast about the state of the market with Jerome Rand of Sailing Into Oblivion and we talk all about the shifts and trends in the sailboat market and how drastically things have changed since CT (Covid Times).

Yes it is. The broker I bought the Orion through and I have become friends and he said it's crazy how many boats are on the market. Not surprising to me. Back in 2020 boats were selling like crazy and I suspect those people are now selling.

It took me almost 2 months to sell my Eclipse and I did have to reduce the price.  My best example of a tire kicking buyer was a guy who wanted to trade my Eclipse for a car!  I said I don't think so and he hung up on me....  Guess if you are in the market, you are golden and will have choices.  I was really surprised with the Eclipse since there are only about a hundred of them in existence and I believe there were only two on the market.  The closing of Com Pac did not help the market, in my opinion.  Hang in there.  Sail On,  Al
