Shore Power for a CP 23?

I am thinking about adding 120v shore power to my 1989 23/3 to keep my single battery topped off and power a light or two and power tools while in port.  Is there anyone who has tackled this themselves and would argue for or against making this a do-it-yourself project?  I have done a reasonable amount of home wiring but never in a marine environment.  I am aware there are more stringent requirements for making 120v safe in a potentially wet location so don't want to tackle such a project if it requires unusual techniques or skills to make it safe.  Thanks for any help.
