Rigging

Started to put up rigging today and ran into a problem. From the bottom of the tack of the sail to the bow chainplate is about 10 inches of nothing. First time rigging a sailbost (CP 16) and was wondering what I'm missing? Any help appreciated.[[

From the pictures,( BTW good pix) looks like you raised the jib and then tried to attach the tack. The head of the sail is probably up against the block. The tack should be attached first, then the hanks, then attach the halyard to the head of the sail; last the sheets. Now you are ready to raise the sail.
Not uncommon to have a gap between the head of the jib and thetop of the forestay. You can measure the forestay length and compare to the luff of the jib. Ten inches difference seems ok to me. If more, you may have a substitute sail.

Just slack off the Jib halyard a bit...
