A Com-Pac 27 is a beautiful boat. Far better then the competition. And that's from the mouths of three Hunter Salesmen who I followed around from boat to boat at the All Sail Boat Show at Navy Pier, Chicago. The hunter 27 is a 'light weight' compared to the Com-Pac 27. I can't sell you one. I don't have one.  skip.

My wife and I are going on a boat shopping trip next week. If we are successful Pooka may be on the market.
Our boat will not be one of those cheap fixer uppers. She is in very, very good condition.

Here's the story:
I'm about 5 years from retirement. We would like to get a 38ish cruising boat in the next couple years in preparation. However the market is particularly strong for buyers right now. So we are just looking but you never know. The right boat at the right price might just present herself sooner than later.

I honestly love my Com-Pac, a fantastic 27 footer. In fact even though I'm considering selling she got all new running rigging today, reconfigured the davit supports and just general putzing around for the last couple weeks.

We will still splash her on Dillon this summer then we'll see what happens.

   Should you find yourself a non-Compac owner, I believe you are grandfathered in here with full lifetime priviledges. I almost bought a 27 last year; twas the deal of the century. Well, almost. I consulted with Koinonia about it...she thought is was a bad idea. She was right. She usually is.

There is a new listing on the South Jersey Craigslist for a 1994 Compac 27 with reasonable equipage.

   I wonder if that 27 is still for sail up at Silver Cloud or Forked River Marina (NJ) I can't remember which. It was about 14K.

Hey Bob- we both missed out on that 1986 C27 at Silver Cloud. It has been gone for at least six weeks, and I assumed they sold it or hid it really well. Just repeat.........."Bigger boats-bigger problems and expenses."  I don't miss all the big bills from the last big boat- I only miss being able to go to New England or the Chesapeake at the drop of a hat. I guess, though, that is still possible with the help of a bigger tow vehicle than the Ranger 4 cyl. !!  See you on the water.

I'm glad I didn't go for that 27. I'm quite content with my 23 although I wish I were only 36 inched tall so I could have standing headroom. I'm able to store her on a trailer in my back yard, launch easily, no slip fees, winter storage fees, which equates out to more $ for the important things in life.

Why are there so few 27s on the market? There only seem to be a handful for sale at any time. And those that are for sale are in most cases early models (pre-1990). Is it that Compac owners don't like selling what they have? Or is there a thriving black market???
