Ok mates...so it's freezing out. So there may be snow on the ground. So all our sails are folded and boats tucked away, wrapped up in their winter jammies. Never too early to think about the 2019 BBB #13. According to my math it's #13 but math was never my strong suit.
So although it's way too early to form concrete plans, lets kick it around. We do like planning around full moons so I'll consult my 2019 edition of Eldridge. Stay warm me hearties, keep the toddies hot!!
Bob23
As I and me liver suffer through dry-January, we dream of hot summer days and strong rums.
So do we have a working date? TOYC is meeting this weekend to set racing schedule and was hoping to leave the BASH weekend open.
Not sure how you picked dates in past years but the full moon dates are Monday June 17th, Tuesday July 16th, Thursday August 15th, and Saturday Sept. 14th. Father's Day is June 16th so I'd be out for that weekend and the following weekend starts mandatory family vacation in OC, NJ.
If we are limiting ourselves to the full moon, we are really eliminating a lot of nice weekends. The weekend of August 16th is looking ok to me...but it's really early to be deciding on a definite date for the Bash. But let's keep the ball rolling and we where this goes. The weekend of July 12th, I'm out of town for my 5th Blackburn Challenge so that's out for me.
Cheers, mates!! Summer's comin'!!!
Full moon? I may have to buy extra razor blades!
Marty K.
Ha! Your secret is out! I thought I saw some resemblance!!
Officially had enough of this winter. 6 weeks till boat work commences so in the meantime it's a youtube life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWZBjJpiYlQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWZBjJpiYlQ)
Ahh...thanks! I needed that!
Nice!
BARNEGAT BAY BASH 2018 COLLECTION (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnW1O9CNVky-UWsS_90S3cX5MNkPwHA5h)
Folks,
August 15th is looking real good.
Floatacella is sat july 27. We plan to be at Tices for the craziness, so if you southern rebels are on the bay, let's plan to raft up.
Maybe we can find a date in June for Northern bay gunk holing. You big boats (23'+) hit open ocean, head north, enter the point pleasant inlet, pinball though the canal. I shall wait at Mantloking bridge, with fresh ice. Maybe even an unopened PBR and some Kracken rum first aid.
Or we look for casual June afternoon to meet up off Toms River...
Plan for next BBB is to sail Terrapin 19 down for a few extra days before and after. Newphew may skipper the Picnic Cat. Not sure if we will overnight at tices, but should have room for 2 if anyone does not want to tow their boat down. This may give flexibility to out of towners. I believe Perter G might have a good recommendation for local B&B.
Lots of time to plan, and to wing it at last minute after seeing the weather forecasts...
Interesting idea. I'll have to read about the inlet/canal. How is sailing up there?
The point pleasant canal can be exciting. Best to hit it with the tide behind you, and you behind 2 other sailboats. Most of my boats have been notoriously underpowered, for you and your diesle, it should be ok. Flow can be 3+ knots and no place to turn to wait for the bridge to open. Forward and reverse only.
Manasquan inlet is not bad, and usually a fun surf in. Boat traffic jam at the RR bridge, but in shelter water. Manasquan river is too shallow, so motoring is a must. After the canal, the Metedonk river is not wide, but is deep enough to sail. Some good anchorages, pubs, and windward beach, where they have a summer concert series, with huge raftups.
Northern Barnegate bay will require close watching of the charts. Even my 19 rudder will mud drag ever now and then. I think we have done a good job on locating the Sandy Hurricane debri, the Mantolking bridge is where the Atlantic broke into the bay. The east side of bay is shallow. Kettle creek and especially silver bay offer a little bit of good sandy bottom anchoring. But expect and plan for the thick black mud bottom in the deeper spots.
Your 25 will need all bridges to open. My 19 scoots under. Toms River is deep, and you can get a transient slip in town. Some good restaurants and a bay museum are there.
Quite the salesman with that description of the canal as "can be exciting". Imaging 3 knot currents with boat traffic while waiting for bridges in a narrow channel brings other words to my mine! Sounds like there's a ton to do once past the "canal of death". Like you said, plenty of time and many projects to be done.
Just to be clear, the 15th is a Thursday(full moon). So we would be looking at Aug. 16th-18th.
That looks good for me right now, no yacht club races planned.
So do we make it official?
Let's make it as official as we can on the early a date!
I'd love to row the canal but have been told it's against the law. Of course, it's NJ...can't wait to try it!! Yes, I can row against a 3 knot current and make headway!!
Sounds like some great plans are forming for 2019! Only my beloved state could restrict usage of a public waterway to motorized boats! I'm sure a flotilla of fools on tubs or SUPs with a keg in tow were the catalyst for such a ban. Perhaps a race would be allowed? Man vs. Compac?!!?
August 16-18 sounds official to me.
I'm writing in ink on my calendar!
BARNEGAT BAY BASH XIII AUG_16-18_2019
I am planning on taking off from work on Friday, this way I can join in on the early bird festivities this year!
PS. Bob you should add the date to the thread title.
Couldn't resist your suggestion, Kevin. That date works for me as well.
TG
This is perfect! I'll try to get off but my boss is such a pain in the transom, I'm about ready to not just call in sick, I'm callin' in gone!!
And so, the game is afoot!! Now that we have the date, we have plenty of time to figure out the when's and where's. I do hope Allen is finished with that anchor, now that he's retired. Bet it's gonna shine!
So chime in mates! And a thank you for everyone who makes this the epic sailing event of the Northern hemisphere. Maybe we can steal America's Cup sponsors!!
Bob23
I am new to the group but the meet-up sounds pretty awesome. I saw some footage of a past one on empty-nest sailing.
I would be interested in learning more about these meetings if they are open to newcomers.
by the way am a COMPAC 19 sailor (Unless I find a 27 before then).
Hey Saltdog! ALL newcomers welcome and you don't even have to have a Com-Pac sailboat.
Exact details will be posted here in the coming months but the usual outline is...
Friday Sailors arrive in Forked River to launch/dock for dinner that night.
Saturday morning breakfast meetup.
Followed by Sail to Tices Shoal for raft up/anchor up.
Lunch/dinner at anchor and sleep over.
Sunday sail back to port.
PS. Some folks just show up for the dinner/Breakfast
Hey Bob, I have a way for you to stick it to that transom boss. You should buy everyone drinks on Friday night with his credit card!! Just don't let Lisa know whose paying.
You were reading my mind!!
Once my daughter is done school she will have time to work on a shirt design for us.
Anyone interested in purchasing BASH t-shirts?
Thinking of a simple bottle cap design.

Kevin,
As long as we do not infringe on the PBR logo, and maintain our social standing by not lettering non compactnauts know we occasionally drink PBR as way of supporting our sailing habit, Ellen and I am in for 2 shirts. 2xl & xl.
Please no charactures of Admiral Bob, unless they are truly representative and offending...
Thanks for the initiative!
I will definitely be in for 2 large's. And feel free to try to offend me...I'll offer a 6 pack of PBR to the person who is successful! Whatever design the Sea Robin can come up with is fine by me! I love the bottle cap design.
Oh...just noticing the Sock Burning in 3 weeks. I better pre-arrange an Uber!!
Sail on my friends!!
Salt dog,
Hope to meet you and your 19!
Seems to be quite a few former 19 owners to go big and regret there decision to leave their 19 behind. A assume you need more accommodations for exploring the sound.
Ones in good shape are getting very rare out there.
All the best!
Brian
Alas, kept thinking that one year would be able to bring our little 16 up for this event. That date unfortunately is also the party and gathering at our marina that some of you have attended and had the been the basis for CBMSG. Life has slowly moved us to being even more involved at our marina and plans with 'Interlude', our Pacific Seacraft. For the first time since we got back into sailing a couple years ago we may not even have a Compac in the water. 'Mas' got little used last year though did help a friend with a new to her 16! This year 'Mas' may stay here awaiting her time to start teaching our grandson the art of tricking the wind into moving his boat!
Meanwhile, we will be tipping a glass to all involved and sending thoughts of fair winds and good times to y'all!
Great idea Kevin! I'd be in for one.
Looks like we might not survive this BASH!

LOL
"...Pabst Brewing company has a "Pabst Blue Ribbon Whiskey" in the works. And because this is Pabst, known for its grunge appeal and dirt cheap beer, we're hoping PBR whiskey fits right in on the shelf at the diviest bar in your hometown."
Hi Folks,
I put the dates down in the calendar but I'm not sure if I can get the time off from wor.........
Oh! Wait!! There is no work on those days. I checked my calendar and all it says is SAILING.
Go figure?
Now just waiting for the water to not be so solid.
Work. The other 4 letter word! Glad you're enjoying your retirement, Allen. How's that anchor coming along??
Bottom painting, done.
Rudder mounted with plastic milk jug cut out bushings for the pintles. Done. ( Need to really work on this next year.)
Cabin dry and vacuumed. Done. Admiral is upset that her Dyfus cordless may have been sacrificed for the well being of the fleet.
Replacing lifelines and boat registration numbers next.
Teak may need to wait another year...or following one...
Splash down in Barnegat Bay scheduled for April 20ish..
Now need to convince Admiral that planning a boat launch on Good Friday, Passover, Easter Sunday, earth day is a good idea....
Seems like a Good Friday to me! new bronze bushings are fairly easy, just need a super long drill bit. Now sacrificing a $200 plus vacuum WILL land you in hot water with any admiral.
Still wrapping up the Admiral's kitchen reno here. Boat work on hold for now.
Planning on a June 1 launch....that's if she doesn't sell by then.
Brian, yer way ahead of me...but that's not very difficult! I've been chipping away at the list but don't seem to be getting anywhere. This coming weekend I'll touch up the bottom, begin waxing the hull and touching up the teak. Changing the bilge pump to a Johnson (ok... I can just hear the jokes now) and hopefully a new outboard bracket before Koinonia takes her 13th splash with me!
Looking forward to another BBB with all you curmudgeony wharf rats! Aye, the salt of the earth ye be!!
Bob23
Well boys, Interlude splashes today! Though she needed little this year (new exhaust hose) the little she needed was unfortunately handled by Visa secondary to me being less than mobile! Though you would have been amused, once the doc gave me some driving papers a week ago, to see me standing on a ladder, wearing a leg brace, waxing her hull! How many times can you answer "what happened to you?" I know you all are excited to see the season return, and one of these days will come up to see ya'll and the Joisey coast. As mentioned already, this year's BBB is the same date as the Cheeseburger in Paradise party here, but we can guarantee that we will be tipping a glass, or two, well more than two, to all up there!
....and Bob and Kevin, there s gunna be a 16 coming up for sale soon. No not "Mas", but i've heard rumors about one!
Hi Brian,
My 19 is a 1998 and is still in nice shape. I have done numerous upgrades (roller furler, new sails, rigging, autopilot...).
I do like how it sails and I have had a lot of fun on it. Maybe my wife won't notice if I keep it after I find a bigger one.
So far my best trip was a trailer cruise up to Sebago Lake in Maine for 3 days.
We anchored by some Islands and it was great.
Block island is a great spot in my cruising area that I have made it out to a few times.
I mostly sail around Mystic Ct where I am from and I sail to Stonington and New London for overnighters regularly... good times.
I have been looking for a COMPAC 27 or to get some more head room and get the post out of the V-birth. The wife would also appreciate the closed head. I also have a 14 and a 12 year boys so the 19 is a bit tight if we all go for a day sail.
I hope to be able t make it to Barnegat as it sounds like a great time.
Cheers!
Jason
Jason,
Wife and I ad a great vacation in mystic last year. Stayed at the steamboat inn and it was well worth it. We were at start of season, 1st week in may, but we were fogged in, so never made it out on the schooner (agilia?) docked next door, but made friends with the crew as we had cocktails outside our room and watched them work on their brightwork
I hope you make it down to the shore this year.
I was dropped in the wet last weekend, but boar yard flooded out from a southerly gale, so boat was an island...
Family stuff on Easter, kept me from leaving dockyard. Why can't all holidays take place after Super Bowl, and before sailing season..
Jason you should definitely make the trip down as it's a great time! Yesterday would have been an epic sailing day on BB, steady 18-20mph.
Freedom is penciled to launch next Thursday afternoon, so I've got to finish touch up painting this weekend. I'm still hoping to do a sail north in June, just not sure final destination and as always, weather permitting. Brian, I sent you a text about the dinghy, perhaps we can figure a date in May? Between holidays, First Communions, birthdays and graduations the weekend sailing windows are disappearing fast.
Terrapin is in slip. Seaious wind yesterday, but moved her early this morning. Torqeedo 1003 was sail of choice. Rain stopped me from finishing rigging the sails.
Torqeedo came out with more powerful and more expansive, battery. Yes, I am a sucker....
Ryan- I am receiving texts, but managed to lose phone itself. I am off to Chicago this week, but we shall get the dingy done.
Teak is officially on list for next year...it does not really make sailing faster or easier, right?
Yesterday's big wind led me to getting a teather. I was almost blown off at dockside when I took out companion way board, and I am a hefty anchor weight. Now need to find out how to turn that into a biodegradable, eco friendly, water balloon catapult....
Splashed on Thursday and immediately got stuck in the marina channel which was told to be 3ft at lowtide. More like 1.8ft.
Wow, that's not good.
You guys are both way ahead of me...I just waxed the hull sides yesterday. Hoping for a pre Memorial day splash! I'm hoping to so some longer cruises this summer. Wait: Didn't I say that last summer, too?!
Sold my Bauer 12 today. Ryan is getting my dinghy.
Admiral is happy, for now...
She has a theory that my hind quarters can only be on one boat at a time. Not sure where she gets these crazy notions...
Dare you say the same for shoes?? or pursues?!? I enjoy living and sailing so those words won't be coming out of my mouth.
Though splashed, the list of chores keeps growing and I've recently discovered to replace the impeller I need to remove the oil filter! So one project has become two.
Lucky 13 Bash is on the way!

And as they say the rest is history. It's been 12 years, still waiting for Bruce and or Jimmy to show up. Maybe this is the year?!
Wow, Kev that is great! Thanks for all your hard work putting this together. And a little known BBB fact: Kev was the original instigator of this epic gathering, the spark shall we say that got this fire burning! I raise my glass of PBR to you!!
Good Job Kev,
Terrapin had her
First sail last Sunday. Stayed in kettle creek as wind was steady 20, with some major gusts.
Too lazy to put up main, and because I did not set sail for reefing, yet. So...
Followed an o'day 25, also under jib, back and forth, showing our new bottom paint, when we got near the mouth of the bay. Jibed instead of tacked. We were the faster boat in these conditions. On the westward reach, we tucked in way up the creek where houses blanketed the wind. My wife and I roller reefed our jib, poured another rum and coconut water, and waited patiently for them to catch up, and jibe. Then, when even, we unfurled, without hardly a spilt drop. We won every sprint. I am sure they will come looking for us when the wind is less than 10... Learning to love my CDI furler. I am sure there was a reason to wait until I turned grey before giving up on the hanked on jib. Just cannot remember what it could have been.
Now to find those reef lines...looking forward to the BBB.
So a topic often discussed but never acted upon.
Do we sail to a different location this year instead of Tice's?
Berkeley Island Park
(https://i.imgur.com/Snv44Tn.jpg)
I like the people watching of Tice's but I come from waters void of such stuff so I could see why you would like to avoid it being there all the time. I did also enjoyed jumping in the ocean at dawn. Seems it could be a game time decision based on wind/waves too. Have you ever anchored there overnight?
I've never been there but a few folks from the yacht club have. It is a quieter anchorage, but Tice's does have it's own sort of fun.
Have tucked into the Bartlett anchorage many times in the past. Has good holding and is a quiet spot for an overnight. Not much to watch, other than the stars and the morning crabbers and joggers. Have not been there since its re-build after Sandy messed it up in 2012.
Decided to just keep it at Tice's, it's what we do!
Plus it will go on the shirt design which is close to wrapping up.
Will most likely use Teespring.com
On that site you can order whatever color and quality shirt you want plus other tchotchkes.
Now for something really cool.
This is a short clip of Robin(my daughter) sketching up the design.
SHIRT DESIGN (https://i.imgur.com/No4uJ82.mp4)
Looking great! and that's a cool little clip too!
Tice's is fine...it is what we do but we don't need to stay northerly like we always have. I think there is deeper water than we realize to the south a bit and I'll personally scout the area to take some actual soundings for you deeper draft folks. Seems like most of the yahoos tend to stay north, near the stairs...but there may be secret walk-overs to the beach south too.
Stay tuned for more! And a big Thanks for Kev for his work in keeping this movement alive and for being the original instigator for this epic event!!
Cheers! Bob23. For the cause!!
Greeting mates and a happy Independence Day!
Just revisiting the topic of the highly sought after Barnegat Bay Bash 2019 which is scheduled to be held August 16th through the 18th in the Year of our Lord Two Thousand and nineteen!
Let's get a role call going and see who will attend this epic event. I've heard rumors of Bruce Springsteen sailing his Eclipse down but he could be disguised as Allen... you know what they say about rumors!
Cheers mates!!
Bob,
Ellen and myself are in for Friday. Saturday, we may need to run to an annual canoe trip nearby, to be confirmed. Will be back Saturday night to join the fleet, and for Sunday morning sail.
We plan to sail our 19 down on Thursday, so Friday we will be sailing off forked river.
Will call south wind marina tomorrow...
Ok mates....the game is afoot!
Lesa and I for dinner Friday night, most likely just me for the Tice's sail.
I'm for sure in for Saturday night at Tices. Breaking news on our end, admiral is with child, due date is November 14th!! Not sure how many nights I can squeeze away. Original plan was Thursday at Myers hole, Friday Southwinds, and Saturday at tices. Might have to scratch the thursday night away.
Congrats in advance!!
NOT to be unfeeling, but in my experience a hormonally imbalanced Admiral is just what sailing far, far away is for.
JMHO. TG
For future plans here are a few picks of the Berkeley Island Cove.
I was out that way this weekend....not by boat though.
There was a good stiff south wind, but nicely protected anchorage.
So mates...how about a roll call for the BBB 2019? Who's not afraid to tarnish their reputation by throwing in with this lot of gnarly wharf rats? Friday night dinner location to be announced but it's been discussed to find ourselves at Joey Harrisions which is within stumbling distance to our boat slips at Southwinds. So...what say ye??
I feel like I'm waking up to a party where I fell asleep for a while. What? Huh? Aug 16-18. Food? Beer? Sailing? Uh, sure. Sign me up.
Just me for the dinner, then the girls will join for Sat.
Larry.
Poifect! Looking forward to seeing you all. Now...where are the rest? Lurking or aground on a deserted island? Come forward mates!!
Admiral Ellen and myself are in for the duration...
Lesa and I for dinner and most likely just me for the sail.
PS. Sample shirts have been ordered. If all goes well more details to follow.
Hey mates,
I'm still in. I just have a few more tweaks to get the Madame in the water a couple of times before the bash . I believe I am busier now since I retired. And not to mention the hours of polishing the anchor each day. New tires coming for the trailer tommorow for a safe trip down. Can't wait....
Fantastic, Allen I was just thinking of calling you. And this is precisely why I'll never retire. I don't have enough time now, why would I retire to be busier than ever? Looking forward to seeing you both- stay tuned for more info as we figure out just what we're doing!! it's soon!!
The Admiral has blessed a Thursday departure so I'm in for dinner on Friday within stumbling distance to our fleet! Will get on reserving a slip at Southwinds.
Perfect! I'll do the same...my Admiral is more than happy to be rid of me! I heard from the horses mouth that Marty will be attending too! So...the game is afoot!!
Bob23
Sample shirts are in and look great. Need to make a slight color change on the gray shirt(ship's wheel a bit too dark.)
Should have ordering details by end of week. There are two different graphics colors depending on what color shirt you want.

Kevin,
Shirts look good!
Just made Southwinds slip reservation. We are hoping to sail the CP 19 Terrapin down on Wed, and sail back to the norther reaches of Barnegat bay on Monday, aug 19. I padded the dates to allow flexibilty for weather.
My band took a job for that Saturday night, 8/17, so we will miss the tices overnight, again...
We will stalk the fleet Sunday morning, and chase any stragglers.
To quote Bob, and Sherlock, the Game is afoot..
Sounds good Brian!
I might be slipping onto Bob's boat as I and Lesa just signed contracts on Dorothea. Sea Trial and survey set for Aug. 13th!
Kevin,
Good luck with Dorothea.
Unfortunately, my admiral will not let me arm Terrapin with my power washer, so you should be fairly safe on Kiononia, as long as Bob behaves. She stopped me when I tried to duct tape the required power generator to the bow pulpit. Not sure why...
Good luck with the sale Kevin and you're welcome aboard Freedom if you want. On August 14th you could drive to North Jersey and buy that light blue hull 16 on Craigslist and be back in time to splash for BBB2019!
Thanks! I have a lead on a 'FREE' boat....Irwin 21 Free Spirit.
But don't tell Lesa! lol

Hey Kev, have a possible lead on a Cape Dory Typhoon that might be had for the asking. It became fallout from a divorce. I know the owner and she indicated she has no interest in it and would rather it just go to good home since no one is caring for it now. It was in great shape a scant two years ago. So sad to see boats neglected. It does have a trailer as well.....and yes i will tell Lesa!
......gives you a good excuse to come visit again!
Thanks Rick, but looking for something more trailer sailable. If I don't get the 'Free' boat we just might be taking a break from boat ownership for a bit.

I hear ya Kev! This year I've wondered why we even have boats. Recovery from my injury has taken much longer than hoped but certainly as long as advised. That along with much on the plate at home and the 16 sits in a barn here and Interlude, though in the water, saw me having to wait until July before I felt stable enough on the moving deck of a sailboat. Almost fell overboard in May, single handing, leg buckled under me going forward throwing me into the lifelines. With all of that said, if ever you guys find yourselves this way, well not so much this way but down on the bay where our boat is, be glad to take ya out. Actually if ever find yourself in the Charlottesville area be glad to hook up and show ya around!
Good luck with everything and still hope to get that direction some day. Will lift a glass to all at our marina party on that Saturday of BBB!
Fair winds,
Rick and Susan
Taking a break from boat ownership? Ha...new boats just seem to find me! "It followed me home...".
There might be one of these in my near future:
https://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/wooden-sailboat-kits/skerry-rowing-sailing-dinghy-kit.html
Well, for whatever it is worth I had Joan tell me she is going to sell her 1987 16mk2 as she 'moving on up'. Right now it sit's with a broken mast secondary to her driving under the travel lift on her way to launch her. Oops! Might could tenure an offer for her 'as is.' (new mast from Hutchins is $498).
Ya gotta remember that big stick up there!
....oh and Kev, that Typhoon has a trailer.
....and Bob, if you lets me count my canoes and kayaks from my whitewater paddling days, along with Mas and Interlude, then we have 9 water craft! Now teaching paddling for over a decade years ago did pay for all of the canoes and kayaks but still.....if your Admiral has any issues with another boat, show her this accounting, well unless you have more than 9!
I always thought that BBB was the Better Business Bureau, glad to see it is really the Better Monkey Business Bureau! Have fun!
So I think we are set on Joey Harrison's River House at Southwinds Marina for dinner Friday night.
Not sure if we need reservations or just wing it.....Bob?
There will be a live band there that night, after dinner we can hang around.
Joey Harrisons it is! Not sure if they need or even take reservations but I'll call tonight.
Sounds good, we should be done sailing and in slip
By 4pm ish. We plan to cruise off
Tices until around noon, and blockade forked river around 3pm. But really no sense in stating this, as
We go where the wind, and wife, dictate.
What is target time for Friday dinner?
Eta dinner at Joey's is...I'd imagine around 6 ish, maybe a tad later. We can converge at the dock and egads! I've yet to reserve my slip! I'd better do it today. Egads!!!
So let's all weigh in here so we have a complete roster, shall we! Aye, me hearties- another fun time is ahead! I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone!
Bob23...for the cause!
So the game is afoot, as Sherlock Holmes would say. I'll be arriving Friday afternoon by boat but I hear whisperings of an earlier pre-bash bash, possibly on Thursday. If this is the case, I may sneak in for a Guinness or two!
Cheers mates!!
Bob23
I should be trailering in before noon on Thursday and hope to be set up in time for a short sail before any pre bash events. It's about a 4 hour trip if the Garden State Pkwy. gods are in my favor.
A little pre-party Thursday night sounds good!
Shaping up to be an excellent bash! I should be in the bay by mid-morning Friday.
Dorothea is SOLD!
I've invited her new owner(Dave) to join us for dinner Friday night.
I will be taking him out sailing on Dory Saturday along with the Com-Pac fleet and then plan to get Lesa to drive me to Island Beach for a dinghy pick up afterward.
And so the game is really afoot now! I should be arriving at my boat slip at Southwinds sometime mid afternoon on Friday as the boss has conceded to give me the whole day off!
Admiral Ellen and myself, had a near perfect easterly wind for a fast 4 hour sail to Southwinds (just under 20 miles). Perfect sailing day, almost no boats out, overcast with very sparse raindrops, made for a very comfortable August sail.
Had dinner at Breakers kitchen and tap and drove home for a comfy bed.
Plan today is to explore southern Bay and hope Alan will help to polish our anchor, or at least, show us the method of the mirror glass shine.
Poifect!!
I'm planning on a noonish departure from Waretown (the boss is making me work this morning, what a tyrant!) and I'll sail about a little before arriving at Southwinds. In the case of overcast conditions, I think I'll follow the glare from Alllen's anchor- a beacon of hope!!
See you all very soon!!
The Fleet all snug in their berths while the skippers and crew party!

Nice shot! David, Rachel and I really enjoyed ourselves. Great to see everybody again. Hopefully, I'll be able to set sail on the bay with you all in the near future.
Marty- I'm so happy you attended the Bash dinner and it was nice to see David again and meet Rachael, who encouraged me to "buy the Porsche"! The Bash would not be the same without you there. As always, the sailing is secondary- the friendships that have been born at the previous Bash's and that continue to this day are paramount!
Sneak preview here: there was some discussion about a fall gathering this year, as yet unnamed. Stay tuned...not sure what it'd be called but of course something catchy.
Cheers mates! And may your waterlines always remain on the outside!
We lifted a glass to all of our Northern friends at our party Saturday! Sorry Bob, there was not one PBR in the 30-40 folks that were there. Looks like someday you may need to return before no one even knows what one looks like!
The moon soon rose to take the sun's place. Figured y'all were watching the same show!
Very nice Rick, we had plenty of PBR to cover both groups. lol
At sunrise we were taking a dip in the mighty Atlantic!

Looks good Kev. At sunrise we sere still hunkered down below decks till we woke up about 9:30! I dunno, something about staying up with folks, spinning tall tails and playing music till after 2:00 AM. Getting a little too old for such shenanigans. Sure would have felt good to be in the ocean first thing!
As you know, our marina is 99% sailboats, but there is a Ranger Tug sitting there now......seems Pedro has also followed your lead and is hanging up the anchor for a while. Recently sold her.

That was really great Kev, thank you! The water was so clear...and I really enjoyed your professional editing! Nice seeing the profiles of our different yachts!

Wow, thanks again Kevin! That was really a great time. But the video doesn't show the stress you were going through with the concerns of losing your drone in the bay.
Good job.

Kevin you threw me for a loop on YouTube last night. Saw the video post about the 31 beneteau and for a moment I thought you were on a new boat hunt!
Very lonely 19 in the next slip.
Loved it Kevin!!!!!
Bob23........Thanks for the great naration and compliments to the Madame. I am so lucky to find such fine sailboat on my first try. See you all soon at the Mid Winter Gathering.

Thanks Kev! But I'm having my doubts about pink being "my color"!!

Yup! Time to start planning the next Barnegat Bay Bash! After the Mid Winter Gathering, as if we really had a winter this year, there was some secret discussion about extending the Bash another day. Start on Thursday instead of Friday...more time for sailing, lies, drink and grub! What thinks ye merry ladies and gents?

Folks,
Ellen and myself usually plan Thursday-monday. To allow for weather issues.
It a long sail from the norther bay...
So we are in, or at least heading in that direction already
Sounds good Bob. As always I will come down and camp out for 4 or 5 days anyway ( if I can get off from work ....oh wait).
Great video Kevin! Thanks again.

So...the game is afoot once again!! This could be the biggest, best and bashiest bash ever! Maybe we can con PeterG and Rick up from VA!!
